Overview The Managing Director of Spur Freight is responsible for leading all aspects of fleet operations, with a focus on regulatory compliance, asset optimization, and cost efficiency. This role ensures adherence to safety and environmental standards, oversees vehicle maintenance, and utilizes data-driven tools to enhance operational performance. The Managing Director also supports executive-level planning and decision-making related to fleet strategy and logistics.

Responsibilities

Direct fleet maintenance and operations, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, vehicle, and workplace regulations.

Collaborate with field locations to strategically place company assets on consistent, high-efficiency lanes.

Oversee maintenance of records for inspections, warranties, licenses, and registrations.

Negotiate with equipment suppliers for maintenance parts and services.

Develop and implement a comprehensive quality program to ensure operational standards and continuous improvement.

Analyze the AIT’s vehicle requirements to forecast and plan fleet purchases and re-sales.

Identify opportunities to reduce costs, maximize fuel efficiency, and increase productivity.

Use tools and software to track fleet metrics and monitor performance against established goals.

Establish and enforce policies to ensure full compliance among all recruited drivers, including driver log policies and reporting standards.

Implement safety policies designed to limit company risks, improve driving behaviors, and reduce accidents.

Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations, including all required documentation and filings.

Collaborate with Commercial Leads at AIT to craft solutions for new customer opportunities requiring assets and explore Owner Operator models where applicable, aligning with department goals.

Recruit and develop asset-based talent, including drivers and leadership roles.

Manage dispatching, routing, and tracking of vehicles to ensure timely and efficient operations.

Assist executives in defining organizational goals and strategic plans for AIT’s Fleet Operations.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.

Wage range: $118,800.00 - $171,000.00 and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.

Qualifications Education

Bachelor's Degree in logistics, supply chain management, transportation, business administration, or a related field. (Required)

Experience

10+ years experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation operations. (Required)

8+ years Proven leadership experience managing teams, budgets, and cross-functional projects. (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Successful implementation of quality programs

Knowledge of routing/analytics

Senior Operations leader experience in leading motor carrier

MS Office

Cargowise

PowerBI- or data analytics equivalent

Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance

Knowledge Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
