Job Description: Security Engineer IV (Virtualization)
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere ESXi Server environments. Develop, implement, and maintain advanced PowerShell and VMware PowerCLI scripting to automate tasks. Administer and optimize Horizon VDI environments with Unified Access Gateway (UAGs). Manage and optimize Windows 10/11 in virtualized environments using VMware Optimization tools. Support geographically dispersed multi-site VMware environments with expert-level troubleshooting. Administer VMware vCenter and vSphere ESXi host feature sets including vSphere Lifecycle Manager, vDS, HA, DRS, vCLS, and storage management. Administer, manage, and troubleshoot F5 LTM load balancing appliances for high availability. Administer, manage, and troubleshoot NetApp ONTAP, NetApp E-series Storage, Brocade Fibre Channel Switches, and SAN technology. Develop, maintain, and update detailed system documentation, diagrams, and records. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT infrastructure projects and provide expert-level technical leadership. Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance in technical best practices. Participate in 24/7/365 on-call rotation and support operational needs. Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connections, performance, and throughput issues. Ensure compliance with CIS Controls, NIST SP 800-53, and DISA STIG standards. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience. 10+ years of Information Security and Virtualization Systems Administration experience. Expert-level knowledge of VMware vCenter, vSphere ESXi, Horizon VDI, and related infrastructure technologies. Hands-on experience with F5 LTM load balancers, NetApp ONTAP storage, Brocade Fibre Channel switches, and SAN management. Strong scripting expertise using PowerShell and VMware PowerCLI. Current VMware certification (VCP-DCV 2025 or higher, e.g., VCAP-DCV). Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to lead teams, mentor junior staff, and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of federal cybersecurity standards and compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST, DISA STIGs).
