Overview

Senior Communications Network Engineer position in San Diego. This elite team serves as the final escalation point for all network issues across the program. The NOC and Field Base Network Engineers escalate problems here. The team is the top of the escalation chain and responds immediately and remains engaged until resolution. The role requires deep technical expertise, rapid critical thinking, and the ability to operate under pressure in high-visibility environments. This role supports VIP and priority projects and requires comfort with a 24/7 operational environment with rotating on-call responsibilities. Work hours are standard 9 AM – 5 PM PST with on-call rotation. Evaluate communication hardware and software, troubleshoot Local Area Networks/Base Area Networks/Wide Area Networks (LAN/BAN/WAN), and other network-related problems. Administer LAN/BAN/WANs, schedule conversions and cutovers, and coordinate with all responsible users and sites. Specialized experience in performance, configuration, integration, and testing of complex large-scale computer integrated networks is required. Key Responsibilities

Serve as the final escalation point for complex network issues across the program. Participate in a 24/7 bridge line rotation to provide immediate support during outages or critical incidents. Troubleshoot and resolve high-priority network issues in real-time, often under pressure. Support high-visibility and VIP projects with precision and professionalism. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including NOC, Field Engineers, and SRE leadership. Contribute to the team’s transition toward network automation using tools like Ansible and Python. Maintain and support Arista Networks infrastructure with expert-level proficiency. Participate in rotating on-call schedules, including nights and weekends (1 week at a time). Work on-site full-time (40 hours/week) with eligibility for OT during on-call incidents. Required Qualifications

IAT Level II Certification CCNA Certification 8+ years of hands-on experience in a senior-level Network Engineering role (not just general IT experience) Proven expertise with Arista Networks (not just exposure) Strong background in network automation (Ansible, Python, etc.) Ability to think critically and perform under pressure in real-time troubleshooting scenarios Must be able to work on-site in San Diego with no remote flexibility Additional Notes

This is a high-visibility role with direct impact on mission success. Candidates must be self-sufficient — there is no time for training or ramp-up. Must work PST hours to ensure overlap with EST and HST teams. Candidates must be US citizens able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance as a condition of employment.
