On the Windows Ecosystem Enablement (WE2) team, our approach involves Windows platform security protections as well as deep collaboration with an ecosystem of ISV partners that provide value-added security software and services for our mutual customers. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work directly with industry-leading security partners to define and adopt the newly announced Windows endpoint security platform. This new framework is central to our vision of a more resilient security ecosystem, enabling partners to deliver effective, performant security solutions. You will also work with multiple internal engineering teams to help shape the evolution of the platform based on real-world partner scenarios and needs. Responsibilities Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to determine partner requirements for a scenario. Contribute to long term technical strategy and direction for the platform. Identify dependencies and develop design documents for a product, application, service, or platform. Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance, maintainability, effectiveness, and ROI. Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and work items. Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products, while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Rust. OR equivalent experience. 4+ years of industry developer experience building, debugging, and troubleshooting native Windows applications with C# and/or C++. 2+ years of experience with Windows operating system, security and application development. 2+ years of experience in a software engineering role demonstrating cross-group collaboration, effective written and oral communication, and driving multiple simultaneous projects with high attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Rust. OR Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of experience. 6+ years of industry developer experience building, debugging, and troubleshooting native Windows applications with C# and/or C++. 4+ years of experience with Windows operating system, security and application development. 4+ years of experience in a software engineering role demonstrating cross-group collaboration, effective written and oral communication, and driving multiple simultaneous projects with high attention to detail. Experience collaborating with external engineering partners to design, build, or integrate technical solutions across organizational boundaries to align architecture and delivery. Hands-on experience with PowerShell, Azure SQL, or Microsoft Fabric to develop and maintain infrastructure and internal tools supporting partner integration, testing, and enablement work.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, with base pay ranges of USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year in those locations.
