Junior to Mid-Level Intellectual Property Associate Attorney Job Overview: A reputable law firm based in Raleigh, NC, is looking for a skilled junior to mid-level Intellectual Property (IP) Associate Attorney to join their expanding Technology Transactions & Intellectual Property Team. This team supports clients in developing and commercializing cutting-edge technologies. The firm serves a broad spectrum of national and international clients across industries such as retail, pharmaceuticals, software, finance, and education. As part of this dynamic team, the ideal candidate will engage in various tasks, from securing statutory protections like trademarks and copyrights to developing technology collaboration agreements and negotiating IP licenses. Duties: Assist in obtaining intellectual property protections (e.g., trademarks, copyrights). Evaluate potential IP infringement issues and conduct clearance searches. Develop and commercialize IP rights through the preparation of technology collaboration agreements. Negotiate and draft software and patent licensing agreements. Collaborate with team members on a variety of technology-related legal matters. Support corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions by conducting IP due diligence. Advise startup clients on pragmatic IP strategies. Provide expertise on IP-related disputes, ranging from pre-litigation to litigation and arbitration. Requirements: Experience in intellectual property law. Strong understanding of IP laws, including trademarks, copyrights, and patent law. Experience with technology transactions, such as licensing and collaboration agreements. Ability to work collaboratively and learn from more experienced attorneys. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment while balancing team collaboration and independent work. Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Certifications: Admission to the State Bar (NC Bar preferred, or eligibility to obtain). Skills: Solid legal research and writing abilities. Experience in drafting and negotiating complex agreements. Familiarity with IP due diligence in corporate transactions. Ability to provide client-focused advice in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well within a team.
