WSP is currently initiating a search for an On-Call Technical Director, Water Resources Engineering for our Lakewood, CO office. Participate in a technical advisory role on a wide range of engineering and mining projects; from conceptual water management planning to detailed design of water infrastructure and construction oversight. Provide technical expertise related to hydrologic assessments, site-wide and tailings impoundment water balances, options assessments for water management infrastructure, hydraulic and streamflow evaluations, water diversions and control structures. Provide dam classifications and dam safety reviews in collaboration with our geotechnical and construction teams. Provide oversight to dam breach assessments, hydraulic analysis, design and assessment of surface water diversions, hydraulic structures, water control structures, ponds, surface water outlets to rivers, and water infrastructure. Serve as a Qualified Professional in relevant jurisdictions for assessments, studies, designs, and recommendations where required for regulatory purposes. Deliver complex water-related scopes of work, including technical reviews, coordination with other disciplines, and interaction with technical leads responsible for mine waste, engineering and stability, and environmental components. Providing technical guidance to junior and intermediate staff. Collaborates with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide future ready solutions for clients. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or similar, with experience in water resources management and assessments related to hydrology, hydraulic structures, erosion protection, and design. 20+ years’ experience in surface water management projects Engineer license required (multi-state preferred). Advanced proficiency with water resources engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, standard of care, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues. Demonstrated familiarity with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and other hydraulic modeling software Demonstrated experience with developing and reviewing technical drawings, technical specifications, and technical reports Demonstrated experience in consulting to the mining industry Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage staff, and effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization. High degree of motivation, strategic planning, and self-starting capability Demonstrated ability with establishing, implementing, and managing multiple larger-scale discipline-related programs, documents, projects, and practices for a line(s) of business. Strategic lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment. Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists. Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs. Advanced knowledge and proficiency with office automation/communication software, technology, math principles, predictive models, and tools used in the corporate environment. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Preferred Qualifications

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $139,800 - $212,600 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
