Senior Software Engineer , you will create and build things that delight and protect our customers. You will work with a team of engineers, PMs, and designers, and collaborate with other teams across Microsoft to deliver large-scale, distributed architectures and features to meet OneDrive and SharePoint core infrastructure needs. You will design and deliver systems that enable our developer community to build and operate document-centric applications, improve core systems performance and efficiency, and ensure zero customer impact during launches. You will deliver systems to meet business continuity goals, provide telemetry for optimization, and drive response times for detecting and resolving service issues. Required Qualifications: 4+ years of industry programming, software development, and/or software engineering experience, including debugging, algorithm design, and delivering production-quality code. Experience assessing security risks in new and established systems, and designing and implementing detection, mitigation, and resolution strategies for them. Experience designing cloud-scale services and distributed systems with a focus on reliability and performance. Experience collaborating with partner teams to meet engineering goals in a unified manner. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements. These include the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, which is required upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: 4+ years industry experience with
C# . Experience building cloud-scale infrastructure components. Awareness and experience with cloud-scale distributed design, patterns, and secure software design concepts. Demonstrated experience delivering projects that include multiple subsystems. Ability to work across and partner with multiple engineering teams to achieve business goals, with a willingness to learn new systems and adapt new methodologies. Experience mentoring and coaching other engineers, fostering a growth mindset. Software Engineering IC4 The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD 119,800 - 234,700 per year. There are location-specific ranges (San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metro area): USD 158,400 - 258,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario. Drive identification of dependencies and development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform. Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to establish and improve performance, maintainability, and ROI. Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and work items. Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following playbooks, on-call monitoring, and coordinating actions to restore systems during issues.
