Mechanical Test Engineer — Redmond, WA Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Test Engineer to join our multidisciplinary test team focused on advancing next-generation wearable and consumer electronic devices. In this role, you will define and execute mechanical verification strategies, develop novel testing protocols, and architect scalable test systems that support both research and new product designs. This position requires strong technical expertise, hands-on problem-solving, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams. Base pay range
$140,000.00/hr - $160,000.00/hr Responsibilities
Define, implement, and execute mechanical verification methodologies for research hardware and new product designs. Develop scalable test infrastructure and custom test fixtures to support verification needs. Architect, document, and validate new testing protocols across thermal, vibration, mechanical stress, optics, and related domains. Manage internal and external resources to build and execute test setups. Partner with researchers, hardware engineers, and cross-functional teams to define test requirements and success metrics. Support system bring-up, debug activities, and clearly communicate test plans, progress, and results. Track coverage metrics, document findings, report test outcomes, and manage issues/bugs. Perform statistical data analysis, post-processing, and visualization of test data. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience in mechanical qualification and verification of small-form-factor electromechanical consumer devices. Proven ability to develop novel testing methods and verification strategies. Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, NX) for fixture and system design. Hands-on experience designing and fabricating custom test fixtures. Strong process creation skills for test procedures and methodologies. Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for test automation and data analysis. Demonstrated success collaborating with cross-functional teams to mature hardware designs. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with system- and subsystem-level mechanical verification. Familiarity with instrumentation and motion control systems (motors, drivers, encoders, sensors). Knowledge of mechanical fabrication processes and assembly of electromechanical systems. Hands-on experience with off-the-shelf mechanical test equipment (e.g., Instron systems). Strong background in statistical data analysis and measurement system evaluation. Experience implementing test automation workflows. Knowledge of kinematics, biomechanics, or body motion analysis. Education
