Principal Electrical Engineer-Power Systems Location: Greenwood Village, CO - Hybrid Work Schedule CLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking an accomplished Principal Electrical Engineer-Power Systems for a senior role on our engineering team. Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US Citizen. CLPE is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm in Denver with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers. Responsibilities

Possess and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems. Apply expertise to complex problems and develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems. Lead the engineering design of sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial/industrial power distribution systems. Develop conceptual and detailed engineering packages for microgrid designs with renewable and fossil fuel generation assets. As a Lead Engineer, prepare, review, and approve design reports and procedures. Develop/review complex electrical system models in ETAP (or similar software) and validate various system study findings/recommendations. Develop electrical specifications for major electrical apparatus and maintain strong and responsive company-customer relationships. Maintain in-depth knowledge of power system protection and relaying schemes for electrical distribution systems. Schedule and attend field walk-downs to determine project requirements; prepare cost estimates and assist construction personnel throughout project life cycle with tracking and understanding basis of cost estimate. Analyze electrical fault events, power quality issues, and system loading scenarios; assist CLP crew to implement corrective actions. Keep current with utility industry standards and codes; enforce and maintain all applicable standards and codes for O&M, replacement/renewable and new installations. Provide guidance and mentor junior engineers to help with their career development and oversee their tasks on specific project work. Travel: 25% to project site locations. Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited university with emphasis in power systems. Minimum of 12+ years in the electric utility industry, including at least 5 years in a Lead, Supervisor or Project Manager role. Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Subject Matter Expert (SME) with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination. Expert knowledge with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems. Experience with MS Project (or similar) for time/cost/labor estimates; high proficiency with power system software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower or similar). Ability to develop staff through mentoring and coaching; excellent analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills; a team player able to work with various partners from start to finish. U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance; valid driver’s license. Benefits & Compensation

Salary range: $150,000-$180,000 annually, plus eligibility to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off, and paid holidays.
