UCI Health is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine. Position Summary: Responsible for coordination of incoming patient transfers to UCIMC. Verifies insurance benefits and obtains authorization as required. Communicates with physicians, coordinates M.D. to M.D. discussion. Coordinates between transferring facility, physicians and bed management in facilitating transfer. Effectively communicates with management as necessary. Uses several computer programs including Quest, Word, Signature and Passport. Accurately enters into and maintains Transfer Center Data Base. Responsibilities

Coordinate incoming patient transfers to UCIMC. Verify insurance benefits and obtain authorization as required. Communicate with physicians and coordinate MD-to-MD discussions. Coordinate between transferring facility, physicians and bed management to facilitate transfers. Communicate with management as necessary. Use computer programs including Quest, Word, Signature and Passport. Accurately enter and maintain Transfer Center Data Base. Required Qualifications

General understanding of medical terminology. Experience in a hospital or medical office setting. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare insurance. Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process. Demonstrated ability to interpret health plan benefit packages and make determinations. Preferred Qualifications

General understanding of medical terminology. Knowledge of University policies and procedures. Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes. Knowledge and experience using EPIC electronic health record. Experience working with MS Office. Ability to ensure proper billing or financial procedures for patients. Total Compensation and Benefits
