Position Description

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Marketing, the Marketing Operations Manager plays a critical role in driving Intersect Illinois' success by optimizing marketing processes, managing resources, and ensuring seamless execution of initiatives that attract businesses and investment to the state. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical and organizational skills who can effectively manage projects, analyze data, and collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. The Marketing Operations Manager will be a key contributor in showcasing Illinois as a premier business destination. In concert with the Senior Director, Marketing, and in collaboration with the Director of Content Marketing, VP of Communications, Communications Manager, and Graphic Design Manager, the principal duties are as follows: Responsibilities

Marketing Project Management:

Serve as the primary project manager for all marketing and communications initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Oversee project workflows, from inception to fruition, utilizing project management software (e.g., Monday.com) to track progress, manage resources, and ensure accountability. Become an expert in the chosen project management system, understanding its functionalities and maximizing its potential for efficient project intake, tracking, and reporting. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to define project scope, establish timelines, and allocate resources effectively. Oversee and directly manage the coordination and communication for video and photo shoots with participants, vendors, editors, and all parties involved, requiring the utmost attention to detail and a contextual understanding of the organizations overall goals/mission to help facilitate effective video/photo projects. Oversee and directly manage the marketing and inquiries inboxes to ensure timely outgoing responses.

Marketing Operations & Process Improvement:

Develop and implement standardized processes for marketing activities, including campaign development, content creation, and lead generation. Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and improve overall marketing efficiency. Manage marketing technologies and tools, including CRM systems, email marketing platforms, marketing automation software, and analytics dashboards. Ensure data integrity and accuracy within marketing systems.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

Track and analyze key marketing metrics, such as website traffic, lead generation, conversion rates, and campaign performance. Generate regular reports to provide insights into marketing effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Develop and maintain dashboards to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs). Utilize data analysis to inform marketing strategies and optimize campaign performance.

Budget Management & Resource Allocation:

Assist in the development and management of the marketing budget. Track marketing expenditures and ensure adherence to budget guidelines. Analyze return on investment (ROI) for marketing initiatives. Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and impact.

Event & Trade Show Support:

Provide comprehensive support for trade shows and events, including logistics, branding, and promotional materials. Serve as day of contact and be physically present, and an active participant, at a given event, including answering and fielding questions as appropriate. Manage SelectUSA marketing operations planning from beginning to end, working closely with the administration and operations team, ensuring successful participation and representation of Illinois. Collaborate with the business development team to maximize the impact of trade show attendance. Support event sponsorship initiatives, including identifying and evaluating potential sponsorship opportunities. Work with event exhibitor team to negotiate robust sponsorship packages.

Branding & Outreach:

Work closely with the Graphic Design Manager to ensure consistent branding across all events and marketing materials. Stay abreast of the Governor's schedule and ensure Intersect Illinois and the state are represented at relevant events. Develop and implement plans for hosting delegations visiting Illinois, in collaboration with the administration and operations team.

Market Research & Competitive Analysis:

Conduct market research quarterly to identify trends and best practices in economic development marketing. Analyze competitor strategies and identify opportunities for differentiation. Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and recommend adjustments as needed.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelors degree in marketing, business administration or related field and at least three years of experience directly related to marketing operations or marketing analytics, including one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in marketing technologies, including CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and marketing automation software. Working knowledge of AP Style, HTML/CSS, MailChimp (or comparable ESP), Monday.com (or comparable project management system), and WordPress (or comparable CMS). Excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of traditional and emerging marketing technologies. Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Google Analytics), capturing and reporting on metrics, and analyzing results. Strong organizational and customer service skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally, visually, and in writing. Preferred: One or more years of experience in marketing within economic development, public/private or non-profit organizations. Familiarity with marketing automation best practices. Experience with budget management and resource allocation. Project management certification (e.g., PMP). Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation. Base pay range

$60,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr Other Details
