Overview
Analytics and Insights Specialist, STR STR is a CoStar group company and a global leader in hospitality data benchmarking, analytics and marketplace insights. The role supports CoStar product analytics and insights efforts and helps STR maintain its position as a leading provider of forward-looking hotel performance data worldwide. The Analyst will be part of a global analytics team responsible for producing hotel performance analytics and insights along with actionable narratives and the integration of other data sources to enhance analysis. Responsibilities
Data Analysis, Visualization, and Storytelling: Analyze large hotel performance data sets to identify key trends by market, location type, hotel type, demand sources, etc. Conduct primary and secondary research as needed to understand hotel industry dynamics, economic conditions, and other factors affecting hotel performance. Convert complex data and findings into compelling and easily digestible tables, graphs and reports, while adhering to STR style and branding. Continuously evaluate how STR data is presented and seek new, more meaningful ways to present it to clients. Contribute analyses to blogs, articles and white papers distributed to clients and stakeholders on a regular basis. Data Integrity, Security, and Quality: Maintain high levels of data quality and accuracy by applying and maintaining robust processes and reviews. Investigate anomalies and potential errors in data to determine root causes and solutions. Adhere to STR’s standards and guidelines for data confidentiality. Personal and Professional Development: Maintain proactive and open communication with the Product team and STR’s global analyst teams across different offices. Stay current on hotel industry trends and news, focusing on factors that affect hotel performance. Ensure CoStar brand and corporate values are evident to the customer at all times. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college A track record of commitment to prior employers At least 2 years of experience analyzing, visualizing, and conducting research to explain data and validate information Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Experience using Power BI, Tableau or another tool for data analysis and visualization Customer-focused with excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to present to clients Adaptable to changing working environments, priorities, and organizational needs Results-oriented with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks independently or as part of a team Strong decision-making skills with timely, informed decisions and ownership Proficient in writing about and presenting trends and insights to internal and external stakeholders Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines across different time zones Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of the hotel industry; experience within the industry, particularly revenue management, is a plus Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) A degree or coursework in data science, statistics or economics What’s In It For You?
