Role Overview
The VP, Growth – Payer will lead strategic partnerships with health plans. Develop and execute a growth strategy targeting payer organizations. Build and maintain relationships with health plan executives to drive new business. Lead contract negotiations and partnership agreements. Collaborate with internal teams to align solutions with market needs. Monitor industry trends and the competitive landscape to refine strategy.
About the Role
The Vice President, Growth - Payer will report to the Chief Strategy and Growth Officer. This role is focused on designing, structuring, and executing Evolent’s growth path, with emphasis on new partnerships, go-to-market sales, business development, and cross-selling. As a highly externally facing role, the candidate should exude an energetic, executive presence and a mission-driven mentality to succeed.
What you’ll be doing
Drive new logo sales and current partnership expansions at national and regional payers, with accountability to Evolent leadership for top-line bookings. Provide leadership and mentorship to the business development team, fostering a high-performance culture. Leverage a sales enablement portfolio (tools, processes, and development activities) to differentiate the pitch through content knowledge and proficiency. Personally initiate and foster executive-level relationships at managed care organizations, health systems, and large provider groups. Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, product development, operations) to support growth initiatives. Oversee an end-to-end new customer acquisition process, including pitch, opportunity sizing, pricing, diligence, partner development, and contracting. Lead top-of-funnel lead-gen activities (conference strategy, channel partnerships, cold outreach, market-specific campaigns, etc.). Ensure discipline of sales operations: reporting/analytics, Salesforce utilization, quarterly KPI targets. Channel customer feedback from the market to inform marketing, product, and operations across the company. Refine product messaging to ensure strong product-market fit alignment.
Desired Skill Set
Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) or equivalent relevant experience. 10+ years of experience in consultative sales or strategic partnerships within healthcare. Proven track record in executing population health, value-based care, clinical quality, and growth initiatives within a progressive health care organization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at navigating senior-level stakeholder discussions. Experience with complex, multi-million-dollar enterprise sales with long cycles and diverse stakeholder management. Knowledge of managed care and provider markets (payers and risk-bearing organizations). Passion for healthcare and commitment to value-based care. Strong familiarity with risk-based contracting. Thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, collaborative, and innovation-driven culture. Travel: Willing to travel twice a month for meetings, site visits, and partnership engagements.

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $190,000-210,000. This role is eligible for a bonus component based on predefined performance factors. As part of our total compensation package, Evolent offers comprehensive benefits (including health insurance) to qualifying employees. Compensation is based on skills and experience and may vary above or below the stated amounts.
