is seeking a Technical Writer Level 3 to support our government customer in Washington, DC. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt. Security Clearance. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. Koniag Government Services is seeking a Technical Writer Level 3 to join our team supporting government contracts. The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise documentation. This position requires someone who can effectively organize information, interface with technical personnel, and produce high-quality technical materials according to standardized formats and requirements. Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance to support KGS and our government customers is required. Responsibilities

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to: The Technical Writer Level 3 will be responsible for developing, writing, and editing technical documentation including reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications. Principal responsibilities include: Receive assignments from supervisors to produce clear, concise documentation related to work methods, procedures, and equipment installation, operation, and maintenance

Observe production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedures and technical details

Interview production and engineering personnel to gather comprehensive information about product technologies and production methods

Research and review journals, reports, manufacturers catalogs, trade catalogs, drawings and other technical data to understand equipment operation, maintenance, and service requirements

Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and accurately delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequences

Organize material according to established standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology

Review published materials and recommended revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding

Maintain records and files of work and revisions

Select appropriate visual elements such as photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate materials

Assist in layout of materials for publication

Develop documentation regarding work methods and procedures following standardized formats

Coordinate typing, duplication, and distribution of documentation

Draft speeches, articles, and public or employee relations releases as needed

Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or technical personnel

Requirements

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects

Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Experience with documentation tools and content management systems

Strong interviewing skills to extract technical information from subject matter experts

Detail-oriented with excellent editing and proofreading capabilities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience creating documentation that adheres to specific style guides and standards

Knowledge of document formatting, layout, and design principles

Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate them effectively to various audiences

Ability to obtain clearance

Desired Skills and Competencies

Experience working in a federal government environment

Familiarity with government documentation requirements and standards

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Knowledge of XML, HTML, or other markup languages

Experience with technical illustration tools

Experience writing procedures and documentation for IT systems, software, or machinery

Knowledge of section 508 compliance requirements for documentation

Experience with collaborative authoring tools

Background in a technical field (IT, engineering, etc.)

Project management experience

Familiarity with agile development environments

Education

Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited university/college in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Minimum 5 years of experience in technical writing or a related area

Experience with SCA (Service Contract Act) contracts preferred
