This position will be responsible for support, implementation, and integration network. The Network/Systems Engineer general responsibilities will include: Designing, installing and supporting the network including the implementation of Routing, Switching, Firewalls, Load Balancing, Systems Integration and Security/VPN technologies in the ITS WAN/LAN environment. Design robust, scalable, secure, and highly available on-premises and cloud architecture for new applications, migrations, and existing systems. This includes defining infrastructure, platform, and software services. Working effectively on projects and support as part of the team. Develop and champion a comprehensive private or cloud strategy and roadmap that supports business objectives, considering public, private, and hybrid cloud models (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform). Develop and maintain detailed architectural diagrams, technical documentation, and establish cloud governance policies and best practices. Aiding with Windows and Linux servers, Datacenter VMware Technologies, Storage Infrastructure and Data Domain. Collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, developers, operations, and security teams, to ensure alignment and clear communication of technical concepts and architectural decisions Responding to on-call / on-site situations within required SLA parameters (2 hr. max drive time). Detailed responsibilities

Work independently and with internal staff, approved vendors and other state agencies to resolve network and systems related issues. Create and update all documentation as it pertains to the current state of network/systems architecture and new installations. Review pre and post bid designs for related projects with Highway Construction, Programs, and Highway Communications groups. Demonstrate functional knowledge of cable standards, multi/single mode fiber, proprietary and standard serial communication protocols, especially MODBUS for SCADA systems. Working knowledge of Windows Active Directory (AD) and Datacenter VMware virtual environment infrastructure, including virtual switches and fiber channel zoning. Define and monitor tools and develop processes to monitor and manage system and team performance. Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to improve performance. Ensure systems are supported in an efficient manner ensuring minimal disruptions and downtime in line with agreed SLAs. Track and report on metrics to show compliance with established service level agreements (SLAs). Participate in planning and implementation of future installations of network, traffic/SCADA equipment and capacity planning. Engage in high-level analysis and troubleshooting of systems infrastructure. Perform all work in a cooperative and professional manner with other team members. Provide technical expertise, direction and leadership to other team members. Perform research and analysis on all requests for problem resolution. Travel between facilities to maintain and deploy networking equipment. Qualifications required at hire

Experienced Network/Systems Engineer familiar with networking best practices. Experience with Cisco switches, routers and firewall best practices. Cloud Architect experience with designing and overseeing cloud computing strategies. Thorough knowledge of Networking and Systems Infrastructure concepts and best practices. Proven experience designing, configuring, troubleshooting and integrating complex networks and systems. Expert knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, BGP) in a mixed environment. Experience with the MODBUS communications protocol. Knowledge of AIOPS and Observability, Cisco DNAC and system monitoring/management tools. Experience with ACLs, Firewalls, Citrix NetScaler, VPN technologies, Wi-Fi and Enterprise Wireless technologies and other security technologies. Knowledge of T1, T3, SONET, SD-WAN, DWDM technologies. Experience in installation/configuration of physical and virtual switches in VMware, storage systems and fiber channel zoning. Ability to adapt to changing situations to meet emergencies, program changes or production requirements. Undergraduate degree (BS) in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or related technical field. Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP, AWS, Azure). Extensive knowledge and experience in creating and updating Network/Systems Visio diagrams. Qualifications acquired on the job

Applicants must have at least eight years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in network/cloud design and engineering, systems engineering in related technologies, and a solid background in related applications, network/cloud architecture, server administration, and desktop management.
