Principal Hookup System Engineer TSMC Arizona offers an opportunity to work at the most advanced semiconductor fab in the United States. The first fab will operate leading-edge N4 process technology, with production starting in the first half of 2025. A second fab will use N3 and N2 technologies and be operational in 2028. A third fab is planned for 2nm or more advanced process technology, with production by the end of the decade. Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management:
Act as a trusted leader and mentor to a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, contractors, and other professionals.
Provide clear guidance, coaching, and support while fostering accountability, growth, and excellence.
Inspire and develop talent, ensuring team members have the skills, tools, and motivation to succeed.
Project Planning & Execution:
Oversee planning and installation procedures for process piping, mechanical, and electrical systems, ensuring quality, safety, and best practices.
Coordinate labor, resources, schedules, and workflows to meet milestones with precision and efficiency.
Identify project risks and develop strategies to mitigate delays and issues.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:
Implement robust quality control measures and conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with specifications, safety standards, and codes.
Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and boost project performance.
Problem Solving:
Tackle complex engineering challenges with innovative solutions and sound reasoning.
Serve as a key escalation point for technical and operational decisions to resolve issues swiftly.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Build partnerships across project managers, designers, contractors, and tool manufacturers to align goals and deliverables.
Drive collaboration between internal and external stakeholders to achieve consensus and success.
Global Contributions:
Support TSMC’s international expansion projects with leadership and operational expertise, adapting to diverse work environments and regional standards.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
Minimum 7 years relevant experience in engineering and project management
Technical Skills:
Proven experience managing engineering responsibilities and construction projects
Knowledge in AutoCAD and Navisworks
Interpersonal Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to drive collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
Ability to work autonomously with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset while meeting deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to dynamic project demands
Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally and work on extended assignments abroad
Ability to adapt to different work environments, cultures, and time zones
Physical Requirements:
Frequent grasping, manipulation, occasional twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, or reaching; desk-based computer work including data analysis and documentation
Training:

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
In-depth knowledge of semiconductor FAB construction, including process piping, mechanical, and/or electrical systems
Demonstrated experience leading or creating installation methods and procedures
Advanced familiarity with construction quality control processes and project optimization
Comprehensive understanding of design tools, international building codes, and construction standards
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Navisworks
Shift expectations
All Principal Hookup System Engineers may be required to work a compressed work week (4 days on, 3 days off, 3 days on, 4 days off) and may rotate to night shifts.
Scheduled night shifts and weekend on-call rotations in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
Night shift rotations are expected to be no more than 4 months per calendar year.
Standard work hours: Monday through Friday.
