The Risk Division is a team of specialists charged with managing the firm's credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk. The division assesses counterparty creditworthiness, monitors market risks associated with trading activities, and provides analytical and regulatory compliance support to contribute to the firm's success. The division is suited for collaborative individuals with strong ethics and attention to detail. Credit Risk (CR) Overview
Credit Risk (CR) is responsible for managing the firm's credit exposure to trading and lending counterparties. CR uses its expertise in financial, credit, and risk analysis to ensure credit exposure remains within the firm's risk appetite. CR operates through multiple offices worldwide, providing diverse financial experience and a broad view of how the firm functions. The interaction with various departments and the range of projects create a challenging, varied, and multi-dimensional work environment. Key Responsibilities
Approve counterparty credit research reviews and analysis conducted by analysts on Structured Finance and Commercial Real Estate/REIT financing transactions Analyze all credit facilities of portfolio counterparties and recommend internal credit ratings and regulatory risk ratings Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and answer questions related to the analysis; escalate issues to CR senior management Lead efforts to produce ongoing surveillance and prepare portfolio observations for senior management Update and maintain existing internal rating methodology for Structured Finance and Commercial Real Estate/REIT financing facilities Ensure compliance with Credit Risk policy and procedures, and recommend adjustments as needed Provide both industry-specific training and review process training to new hires and junior analysts Other Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with global GS Risk teams and other divisions Support key Risk governance and approval committees Participate in regulatory examinations Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field Seven (7)+ years of experience in the job offered or a related role Preferred Qualifications
Experience in underwriting, credit rating/research, and risk management in Structured Finance (warehouse and asset-backed financings), Commercial Real Estate Lending, and REIT Corporate Financing Experience presenting and defending credit research and findings to colleagues, senior management, and internal stakeholders Experience in a team environment, including training junior colleagues and peers Strong academic background Strong analytical and written and oral communication skills Team player able to collaborate with colleagues in other regional offices Flexibility and ability to learn quickly Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently Competencies
