Our mission is to promote foreign direct investment into developing countries to help end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity by providing political risk insurance and credit enhancement to investors and lenders. The Economics and Sustainability Group (MIGES) oversees MIGAs country and project risk assessment, analysis of development impact, evaluation of project compliance with environmental, social, and integrity policies, and the development of MIGAs research agenda. The selected candidate for the MIGAs Economics team (MIGEC) will assess country and project risk, evaluate development impact, and coordinate MIGAs representation in and contribution to the WBGs country engagement strategies. Duties and Accountabilities

Project Risk and Development Impact Analysis: undertake due diligence to identify and assess project-specific political risks, propose relevant mitigants, and provide written sections for early screening, underwriting and board papers. Defend contributions in decision-making committees and meetings with senior management. Sector responsibility: assume responsibility for a specific industry sector (e.g., energy and extractives) and provide guidance, oversight, and peer review to team members for sector projects across regions. Economic analysis: lead and/or oversee economic analysis of projects to assess development impact in host countries, ensure consistency with MIGAs ex-ante development impact assessment framework, sound economics, and policy alignment with WBG and IMF programs and objectives; present analyses in relevant documents and investment decision processes. Country Risk Analysis: track and supervise political and macroeconomic risk developments; conduct country risk analyses and defend proposals for changes in country risk ratings; participate as a voting member of MIGAs country rating committee. Country Engagement Strategy / One WBG Coordination: engage in WBG country engagement processes, contribute to diagnostic and operational documents, and represent MIGA in WBG-wide working groups and fora as needed. 4 Other Ad-hoc assignments including development of internal processes, briefing materials, country risk assessments, and presentations for senior management; mentor junior staff as needed. Selection Criteria

Masters degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration / Policy with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive experience in international private sector risk management or in an international credit rating agency; sector expertise in energy and extractives is preferred. Strong analytical skills with a track record of macro-economic and financial analysis; experience with econometric and financial modeling, including sovereign credit risk. Knowledge of global economic/political trends and capital markets; understanding of fiscal/monetary policy, growth analysis, and public finance determinants of sovereign repayment willingness/ability. Experience analyzing sub-sovereign credit risk; ability to assess country risk factors for private investors in developing countries. Experience applying methodologies to assess development impact of private and public investments; understanding of political risk insurance business. Excellent verbal and written English; knowledge of French, Spanish, or Russian is desirable. Willingness to travel, occasionally on short notice. WBG Culture Attributes
