This opportunity focuses on data center projects within the Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) group. Your Opportunity
The MCF (Mission Critical Facilities) Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical guides the technical design of data center projects as a subject matter expert, mentor, and resource to the technical team. The position delegates, leads, and directs work of Project Engineers and Designers. It conceptualizes, executes, and ensures quality throughout the design process to meet client needs and expectations. The Senior Project Engineer will also have supervisor and mentor responsibilities for junior staff and be a resource to other project engineers. This role is open to any location with a Stantec office presence for the right candidate. Your Key Responsibilities
Assists the business development team in new project pursuits by providing input on RFPs/RFQs and participates in project interviews and presentations. Manages technical project process and scope of work within own discipline; reviews and tracks scope, schedule, and budgeted hours; resolves inconsistencies with the project manager. Delegates tasks to project engineers and designers within own discipline as appropriate. Follows quality management process; conducts project reviews and approvals before QA/QC reviews by the technical authority. Builds and maintains strong client relations; communicates project and design requirements, progress, challenges, and troubleshooting to clients and technical staff. Leads technical discussions and mechanical workgroups with project stakeholders as trusted advisor, identifies key requirements, and adapts design to meet project objectives. Coordinates with all disciplines to integrate work and client requests into design. Acts as supervisor and resource to the technical design team; supports staff education, training, and development. Participates in the data center engineering/professional community to stay up-to-date with new requirements and technologies; supports professional growth (attending meetings, seminars, conferences, or writing industry articles). Identifies opportunities to improve and standardize project deliverables across Stantec MCF centers. Contributes to development of design guides, technical memos, calculation templates, and other relevant materials for data center design. Your Capabilities and Credentials
Extensive experience in mission critical/data center design concepts. Experience working on large-scale projects with varied stakeholders. Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices, concepts, principles, codes, and standards in own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conceptualize and develop solutions for multifaceted systems. Strong communication skills to convey scope, schedule, and budget to clients and teams. Adept at writing comprehensive reports and professional documentation. Proficient in applicable software (Autodesk, BIM 360, Revit, TRACE 700); working knowledge of hydraulic modeling (Pipe-Flo) and CFD software (Fluent, 6Sigma) preferred. Knowledge of the construction process and design interaction. Organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to resolve complex problems independently. Education and Experience
Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required. Minimum 10 years related industry experience preferred. Mission critical/data center experience required. Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other relevant professional certification.
