Title:
Director, IT Transformation – Technology Enablement
Location:
Preferred at one of our major IT hubs (Kalamazoo, MI; Flower Mound, TX; or Mahwah, NJ). We will also consider strong remote candidates based in the Eastern or Central time zones.
Travel:
40–50% international travel across multiple countries.
The Director, IT Transformation, Technical Enablement is responsible for establishing and driving the strategic vision, overseeing design, implementation, and support of SAP S/4HANA under the RISE with SAP framework. The Director will build and lead a team focused on SAP platform readiness, development lifecycle optimization, innovation, and continuous technical improvement for SAP S/4HANA and related applications across Stryker divisions, plants and geographies. This role will drive governance, scalability, security, and high availability of SAP systems in alignment with business objectives. They will partner with executive leadership and IT stakeholders to lead the execution of program releases and the SAP platform vision and strategy. This is a strategic role aligning global portfolio planning and execution across IT.
Essential duties & responsibilities:
Own the technical enablement strategy for SAP S4/HANA in a RISE with SAP model, including public/private cloud hosting and hyperscaler integration.
Serve as the primary point of contact for SAP and strategic partners on RISE-related topics.
Manage the technical implementation of RISE with SAP including onboarding, SLAs, upgrades and integrations.
Align SAP BTP, S4/HANA Cloud, and partner services with internal technical teams and transformation programs.
Oversee RISE tenant operations and performance metrics.
Lead negotiations with SAP and technology vendors for licensing, cloud hosting, SLAs, and managed services.
Collaborate with Procurement, Legal, Finance and IT Supplier Operations to manage contracts, renewals and service escalations.
Responsible for delivery of designated SAP solutions for end-to-end business processes across Stryker divisions, plants and geographies.
Responsible for all SAP Basis activities, including system administration, upgrades, performance tuning, and landscape management.
Develop and execute the long-term SAP technical roadmap aligned with enterprise strategy.
Evaluate and promote adoption of emerging SAP technologies (e.g., SAP BTP, Fiori, AI/ML, automation).
Establish and maintain SAP Basis standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
Monitor and optimize the SAP system landscape and implement preventive and corrective measures for stability and reliability.
Provide clear and effective communication to program leadership and governance forums.
Build partnerships with cross-functional teams including IT, business, PMO, and System Integrators.
Coordinate with external suppliers and deployment partners to meet contract deliverables and timelines.
Establish deployment metrics and ensure divisions measure pre/post Go Live success.
Work with IT Service Delivery on post-production support models and processes.
Escalate and mitigate issues and risks timely.
Conduct lessons learned with the Project Manager after each deployment to improve cutover and transition.
Follow Stryker’s SDLC framework and processes.
Manage resolution and communication of production support issues with stakeholders per SLAs.
Collaborate with solution partners, process owners, architects, and super users to close out deployment phases.
Provide guidance and mentoring to team members.
Identify opportunities to improve system processes, performance and efficiencies.
Develop robust integration with Infrastructure, Security, Governance, and Service Delivery.
Maintain financial discipline: deliver activities on budget and manage external resources per contracts.
Special projects as required.
Education & special trainings:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or Business (or equivalent experience).
A Master’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
Qualifications & experience:
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience deploying or delivering global programs in the SAP Technical space.
Strong preference for candidates with 1+ year of RISE SAP experience.
Experience owning and building SAP applications and products.
Minimum 5 years in people management and development.
Prior experience with SAP S4/HANA on the RISE SAP model, including negotiations with SAP.
Experience with SAP Basis administration, migration, upgrade, integration, and support of SAP apps/databases.
Experience implementing and working within the RISE with SAP framework.
Experience with global system rollouts – strategy, planning, vendor selection, and implementation planning.
Knowledge of medical devices and/or pharmaceutical industry helpful.
Ability to work in a matrix organization with collaboration and persuasion.
Strong communication with Senior Management.
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, MS Project, Visio.
Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Physical & mental requirements:
Sedentary work: mostly sitting; minimal lifting.
Salary and benefits:
$149,000 - $250,000 salary plus bonus eligibility, incentives, and benefits.
