Annual Bonus and Stock options What you’ll bring, and what you’ll do, at Lerch Bates: a senior role focused on building envelope consultancy, leading project work, mentoring staff, and fostering client relationships. What You’ll Do
ASSESSMENT
– Conduct or direct engineers, specialists, and technicians in site investigations and field reviews of existing buildings; review background documentation to determine original construction detailing and identify causes of damage or defects; focus on structural engineering, building enclosures, commercial roof systems, waterproofing systems, and exterior facades, including masonry. EVALUATE
– Prepare and present reports and findings documenting conditions and recommended repairs; collaborate with clients to determine next steps; work with the business development team to develop proposals, scope of services, and budgets; review permits and codes; provide peer review reports for peers. DESIGN
– Communicate design ideas clearly; coordinate with internal designers, drafters, engineers, and consultants for construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents; conduct drawing, detail, and specification reviews; review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with design intent and performance; perform cursory calculations of repair and code upgrades. OVERSEE
– Provide oversight of technicians and specialists performing field reviews; assume full managerial responsibility for scope, schedule, design, quality, staff, and execution; act as the engineer of record to sign/seal reports of findings. COMMUNICATION
– Act as a trusted advisor to clients and prospective clients; explore opportunities to enhance service with upsells; proactively keep clients and stakeholders informed of project status and changes; establish industry reputation and market to new clients. TRACKING
– Perform project tracking and quality control, including regular status reviews; manage time and resources; ensure personal utilization and direct reports meet goals; follow Lerch Bates procedures. LEADERSHIP
– Provide guidance and supervision for up to 5 direct reports. What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Construction) or Architecture. 8-10 years of experience in forensics, rehabilitation, or building envelope consulting. Experience managing, mentoring, and leading teams; strong client communication and relationships. Technical understanding of building enclosure systems (roofing, waterproofing, claddings, fenestration, air/water/thermal/vapor barriers). Understanding of enclosure installation quality, scheduling impacts, and project timing. Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills. Flexible, responsive, and capable of multi-tasking; ability to work independently and handle multiple deadlines; collaborative team contributor. Commitment to quality, organization, and attention to detail; experience managing budgets, change orders, and invoicing; upselling services. Proficiency in design/modeling software (e.g., WUFI, THERM) preferred. Master’s degree preferred; licensure (PE/AIA or equivalent) preferred; industry certifications preferred; specialized expertise in multiple technical areas preferred. Why work with Lerch Bates?
