American Academy of Ophthalmology The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the worlds largest association of eye physicians and surgeons, is seeking an (Education) Technical Programs Manager to lead the Skills Transfer Courses and key meeting services within our Annual Meetingthe premier ophthalmic educational event. This role oversees 51 hands-on surgical labs and 28 didactic sessions, securing over $5M in donated equipment annually, and ensuring safe, high-quality, and innovative training experiences for physicians worldwide. Youll manage course development with physician leaders, negotiate complex in-kind support agreements with 50+ companies, supervise temporary staff, and oversee meeting logistics such as freight, first aid, sustainability initiatives, and the EyePlay Lounge. Key Responsibilities
Lead planning and execution of the Annual Meeting Skills Transfer Courses. Negotiate equipment and supply support with industry partners, saving the Academy ~$5M annually. Manage course applications, scheduling, compliance, and lab operations. Supervise staff and contractors for onsite setup, safety, and attendee experience. Support meeting services including freight, first aid, EyePlay Lounge, and sustainability initiatives. Qualifications
5+ years experience in meeting or program management, with strong logistics and vendor negotiation skills. Knowledge of surgical/medical equipment and OSHA guidelines for specimen handling preferred. Budget management and contract negotiation experience. CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) preferred. Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills. Compensation
