Overview

Amentum is seeking Paralegals to assist with the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA/Downwinders) claims team. The Paralegal role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of incoming materials supporting claims filed under RECA. The Paralegal will evaluate evidence to ensure claims meet statutory criteria and communicate with the case team and claimants. Responsibilities

Complete standardized forms. Process legal documents, review for correct form and timeliness, and annotate case files and status records to reflect receipt and due dates for response or other required actions. Assist attorneys or paralegal specialists in compiling case materials by retrieving, photocopying, and assembling documents, affidavits, and legal memoranda. Establish, maintain, and close out case files or systems of legal records, annotating indices and status records, compiling workload and status reports, and locating and abstracting data from files and records. Conduct both technical and legal research. Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location. Requires paralegal certificate, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study. One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate. Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience related to the task order is required. Must have basic legal knowledge and sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw to perform basic legal research. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with computer applications including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work under pressure. Compensation & Benefits

Hiring hourly rate of pay: $25.58 (Hourly rate set by SCA). This position is regulated by the Department of Labor (DOL) as a Service Contract Act (SCA) contract. The DOL regulates the minimum hourly rate of pay, holiday and vacation leave benefits, and Health and Welfare (H&W) money. Employees will earn H&W dollars per eligible hour (including vacation and holiday up to 40 hours/week). H&W monies offset the employer’s cost of benefits the employee elects into and/or utilizes. Any remaining health and welfare monies after all applicable deductions are cashed out to the employee on a 1 pay period lag. Equal Opportunity
