A Fortune 50 financial institution based in Vienna, VA is seeking an Application Packaging Engineer to join their team. The Application Packaging Engineer will support the organization's enterprise-wide End-of-Life (EOL) Software Management initiative. This role requires on-site presence 2 days per week in Vienna, VA. Responsibilities
Leading and supporting full lifecycle EOL software project activities Coordinating with project managers and engineering teams Managing risks, issues, and change requests Conducting enterprise-wide software discovery and usage analysis Identifying unsupported, vulnerable, and redundant software titles Collaborating with security, compliance, and engineering teams to validate EOL candidates Documenting findings, decisions, and remediation plans Providing technical leadership on software lifecycle management Performing packaging activities, including pre-packaging research and validation Validation of installs/uninstalls via MECM Creating AD groups for applications in test/prod OUs Supporting UAT and pilot deployments Retiring/deleting old versions of software in AD, MECM, and MDT Notifying stakeholders of retired/new software and ensuring final cleanup Qualifications
3+ years of Application Packaging Engineering experience Strong understanding of software lifecycle and EOL processes Proficiency in PowerShell, SQL, WQL, Power BI, and software inventory tools Experience with change management processes and submitting change tickets Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and/or SCCM Experience with packaging, repackaging, and deployment technologies Familiarity with Windows 10/11, macOS, or VDI enterprise environments Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and documentation abilities Desired Skills
Experience with Splunk and UberAgent Experience with InstallShield and Liquidware FlexApp Seniority level
