a Senior Fire Alarm Technician , youll leverage your advanced technical expertise to commission, validate, and optimize comprehensive fire protection solutions. Your role combines hands-on technical leadership with system commissioning oversight, ensuring our cutting-edge data center maintains the highest safety standards while mentoring the next generation of fire protection professionals. This position is based at our customers facility near South Bend, IN, and may require occasional travel to support regional projects. Responsibilities Oversee the commissioning and programming of advanced fire alarm systems, including VESDA detection systems, mass notification, and integrated life safety components while ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and local regulations Lead technical project execution including system programming, start-up procedures, and final acceptance testing while coordinating with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for approvals Analyze project specifications, develop commissioning schedules, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of fire protection systems with other building technologies Provide advanced technical troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex fire alarm systems, including software debugging, electrical diagnostics, and system optimization Mentor junior technicians through knowledge transfer and on-site training while maintaining comprehensive project documentation, including as-built drawings, test reports, and validation records
Qualifications You will make an impact with these qualifications:
Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in commercial fire alarm / life safety system installation, programming, and commissioning NICET Level II Certification in Fire Protection Technology/Fire Alarm Systems Demonstrated expertise in fire alarm control panels, detection systems, and life safety components Must be willing and able to differentiate types/colors of wire; use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet; carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA codes, NEC requirements, and local fire protection standards Strong project leadership and team mentoring capabilities Excellence in technical problem-solving and customer communication Must be willing and available to travel as needed for training and to support future regional projects Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid drivers license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements to participate in Siemens fleet vehicle program Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications: VESDA system design and commissioning experience Data center fire protection systems expertise Experience with Siemens fire alarm systems and software Project management experience
