The Information Technology Infrastructure Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and supporting on-prem and cloud IT infrastructure that forms the backbone of the ADL organization. The primary focus will be on ensuring our systems are reliable, scalable, and secure to support the seamless operation of business processes. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to proactively optimize network performance, infrastructure resilience, manage hardware and software components, troubleshoot issues, optimize cloud costs, and ensure user-centered design. Responsibilities Infrastructure Design and Architecture: design scalable, resilient, and secure IT infrastructure solutions (on-premises and cloud environments leveraging Microsoft Azure). Evaluate existing infrastructure and propose enhancements to meet evolving business needs. Engage and collaborate with technology partners as necessary. Infrastructure Operations: Manage server and infrastructure lifecycle, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware and software. Install, configure and support network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and other routing protocols and infrastructure equipment. Configure firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality; responsible for incident and problem management. Perform Root Cause Analysis on major issues with a focus on preventing recurrence. Implement and manage virtualization technologies to optimize resource utilization. Maintain and monitor backup solutions; create and test disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime. Ensure adherence to Change Control policies and procedures by reviewing, documenting, and obtaining necessary approvals for all change requests, coordinating their implementation. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations and procedures; develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Network Security: design and implement network security measures across on-premises and cloud environments, leveraging Azure networking services and security features. Configure and manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, switches, VPNs, and secure remote access. Identity and Access Management (IAM): implement IAM solutions across on-premises and cloud environments; manage user access rights and privileges using Azure Active Directory, SSO, MFA, and related tools. Enforce access control policies and authentication mechanisms. Security Operations: monitor and respond to security incidents across on-premises and cloud environments; manage anti-malware, web filtering, vulnerability assessments, scans, and remediation efforts. Collaborate with partners to improve security metrics and KPIs. Cloud Security: ensure security of cloud-based infrastructure on Microsoft Azure; monitor Azure Security Center and Azure Sentinel; ensure SaaS solutions adhere to best practices. End User Support: use Zendesk to provide Level 2-3 support; create troubleshooting documentation; collaborate with IT teams to optimize user experience.

Qualifications

Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols; proficient with Microsoft and Linux operating systems. Experience deploying and managing virtual environments (VMware); managing Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Intune. Knowledge of PowerShell, XML, JSON, Active Directory, and Cloud Architecture. Strong knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements; ability to address vulnerabilities and security gaps. Experience with digital certificates, disk encryption, containerization technologies, and user-centric infrastructure design concepts. Hands-on experience with infrastructure implementation, support, maintenance, patch management, and security controls. Experience with vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, Rapid7) and related processes. Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, communication skills, and ITIL-aligned service mindset. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.

Education and Work Experience

Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience. MS Azure, AWS, cybersecurity and other related certifications (MS, CompTIA, Cisco, VMware) are preferred. Significant experience in IT infrastructure and operations, including distributed on-premises environments and cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).

Work Environment

ADL is a hybrid environment; this role requires 3 days in the NYC office. May be on call outside of normal hours for complex deployments. Occasional travel to ADL regional offices may be required. Compensation

The position has a salary range of $105,000 to $115,000. This range is listed for a role based in New York, NY. Actual salaries are commensurate with experience and may vary by location.
