Medical Science Liaison - Neuroscience - Phoenix, AZ - Remote role at Novartis .

Territory

This territory will cover Phoenix, AZ / Albuquerque & Santa Fe, NM areas. Must live within 50 miles of the territory border to be considered. Relocation is not available.

Role Responsibilities

  • The MSL will leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to establish and build professional relationships and engage with HCPs (including community physicians, pharmacists, medical experts, nurses, and other healthcare professionals) and other thought leaders in the geographical area as aligned with medical strategy.
  • Engage with customers on emerging data discussions, clinical trial activities, patient journey barriers, market dynamics, unmet medical needs, pipeline discussions, disease state and product education, adverse event capture, and medical insights across all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate strategic territory vision, identify and map key stakeholders, and plan Medical Engagements (MEs) and Key Accounts aligned to medical strategy, in collaboration with internal Novartis colleagues.
  • Identify opportunities for partnership with academic centers, centers of excellence, and/or systems of care to drive impact within the territory.
  • Identify opportunities to involve HCPs or MEs when a specific medical need is identified (e.g., publications, clinical trial participation, etc.).
  • Identify opportunities for internal collaboration with other Novartis stakeholders to advance therapeutic area, clinical, or product goals as appropriate.
  • Provide clinical trial support for company-sponsored trials, facilitating relevant medical activities and working cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues (e.g., HEOR, access, marketing, commercial, sales) to advance clinical practice while maintaining customer centricity and a One Novartis approach in accordance with compliance standards.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area and Novartis compounds to serve as a medical resource to customers and internal colleagues.
  • Maintain knowledge of internal policies and external regulations and ensure day-to-day responsibilities reflect them.
  • Execute administrative responsibilities and training (e.g., Veeva CRM, expenses, compliance modules) timely, including profiling core customers and keeping CRM data up-to-date.
  • Champion emerging responsibilities as strategic priorities evolve and drive personal and professional development.

Experience and Qualifications

Education : Graduate degree in science or healthcare required; doctoral degree preferred (MD, PhD, DNP, PharmD, etc).

Experience for Manager Level

  • 0-3 years in a Field Medical position within the pharmaceutical industry or as an MSL, OR
  • 3-5 years of relevant medical affairs, clinical research, or related experience in a scientific or clinical setting; prior experience in the therapeutic area is preferred.

Experience for AD Level

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Field Medical-based position within the pharmaceutical industry or as an MSL; OR
  • 5-7 years of relevant medical affairs, clinical research, or related experience required; prior experience in the therapeutic area is preferred.

Experience All Levels

  • Strong clinical knowledge including pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, medical expert engagement strategies, and FDA promotional guidelines and ethics.
  • Ability to work in compliance with applicable laws and Novartis policies; maintain an inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment.
  • Adherence to company policies, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Field-based role covering Phoenix, AZ / Albuquerque & Santa Fe, NM areas. Residence within territory or within 50 miles commuting distance from territory border required.
  • Expected travel: approximately 60-70% to meet performance and business objectives (face-to-face, virtual, email, telephone, etc.).

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range at commencement is expected to be between $166,400 - $274,800 depending on level (Manager or AD) and other factors. Final pay determinations depend on location, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Total compensation may include a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, discretionary awards, and benefits (including 401(k) and paid time off). Employment is at-will and base salary and programs may be modified for performance or market factors.

Education: as above. Training: field roles with a dedicated training period; home study may be required. Driving is an essential function of this role and requires a valid driver’s license.
