Solutions Architect / Pre-Sales Engineer Cloud, Infrastructure, Network, Security for Managed Services
Location: Chicagoland | Full-time | Pre-Sales Leadership
A fast-growing, nationally recognized Managed Services & Technology Solutions Provider is seeking a Solutions Architect / Pre-Sales Engineer to join its high-performing team. This client-facing role is ideal for a seasoned technologist who thrives on designing enterprise-grade solutions across Data Center, Network, Cloud, & Security for Managed Service offerings.
You'll play a pivotal role in shaping tailored IT strategies for mid-market and enterprise clients by bridging technical vision with business goals, partnering with account executives and service delivery leaders from discovery through close.
What Youll Be Doing
- Serve as the technical lead during the sales cycle , partnering with account teams to define client needs and build scalable infrastructure, cloud, security, and managed services solutions
- Lead client-facing whiteboarding sessions, architecture discussions, and proposal development
- Design holistic solutions that include both project-based implementations and ongoing MSP services (monitoring, support, lifecycle management)
- Create SOWs, BOMs, and architecture diagrams that align with both client objectives and internal delivery capabilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them evaluate IT decisions and long-term service strategies
- Ensure a seamless handoff to delivery teams, maintaining solution integrity throughout the client lifecycle
- Stay up to date on emerging technology trends, vendor offerings, and MSP best practices
What You Bring
- Strong experience in pre-sales engineering, solutions architecture, or consulting ideally within a VAR, MSP, or systems integrator environment
- Deep technical expertise across:
- Infrastructure (servers, storage, virtualization)
- Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, hybrid, private)
- Networking (routing, switching, SD-WAN, wireless)
- Security (firewalls, SASE, IAM, endpoint, Zero Trust)
- Managed Services Models (24/7 monitoring, co-managed IT, service desk, NOC/SOC)
- Hands-on engineering background is a plus, but must now be client-facing and strategic
- Strong communication skills able to engage C-level stakeholders and IT leadership
- Proficient in creating technical documentation, presentations, and architecture diagrams
- Comfortable working across sales, engineering, and service delivery teams
