Are you an experienced leader with a background in stormwater field operations? In this management role, you will oversee staff and daily activities of assigned work crews responsible for routine maintenance, emergency response, and special projects.
Youll play a key role in operational planning, including budgeting, staffing, employee development and discipline, scheduling, and coordination with stormwater engineering. About the Position
What Youll Do:
- Lead stormwater field operations, including daily functions, emergency response, and oversight of work crews.
- Ensure excellent customer service and maintain strong relationships with residents, departments, and government agencies.
- Assist with administrative planning, including budgets, staffing, goals, and business plans.
- Manage talent, such as hiring, performance evaluations, training, and disciplinary actions.
- Monitor safety compliance, ensuring proper equipment use and adherence to OSHA, county, and state regulations.
- Help manage maintenance scheduling, prioritizing workload and meeting project deadlines.
- Oversee inventory and supply management, ensuring work materials and equipment are available as needed.
- Coordinate resources for emergency and scheduled projects, including major equipment and staff deployment.
- Collaborate with engineering and Capital Projects teams on stormwater quality and infrastructure initiatives.
- Support audits, risk management, and strategic planning, ensuring controls are in place and vendor/union requirements are met.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Construction, Business Administration, Finance, or a highly related field AND four (4) years of performing maintenance/general operations work experience.
- -OR- associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND six (6) years of job-related experience.
- -OR- Professional-related experience may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Two (2) years or more of supervisory experience in the related field.
- A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of current principles and practices relating to stormwater operations and maintenance.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and regulations related to stormwater management.
- Ability to analyze operations and maintenance problems and develop and implement appropriate procedures for correction.
- Experience in creating and implementing routine maintenance schedules.
Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
Physical Demands: Must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Starting Pay
Starting pay range: $75,233.60 - $85,000.00 annually, based on experience.
Note about FY26 budget: Pending budget approval this position will start on or after October 6, 2025.
