Overview

The Financial Controller is accountable for the accounting operations, including the production of monthly financial statements and reporting packages for the business and head-office, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, ensure the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with international financial reporting standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
Controllership and Accounting Operations
  • Manage all aspects of financial reporting and compliance for the mine site.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with company policies and IFRS.
  • Review of key working papers and assumptions and account reconciliations, including but not limited to inventory costing and valuation, deferred stripping, capital assets, asset retirement obligations and post-employee benefits
  • Review of key non-GAAP measures including but not limited to C1 cash costs, All in sustaining costs, EBITDA and free cash flow.
  • Collaborate with the head-office controllership team to streamline reporting processes and enhance financial controls.
Qualifications

A bachelors degree in accounting or a similar business-related degree is required. A professional accounting designation such as CPA or equivalent and at least 10 years' work experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar capacity, are required. Public accounting experience is preferred. A minimum of 5 years' mining experience with thorough understanding of mining terminology is necessary. This role requires proficiency with SAP and the Microsoft Office suite. A background that includes significant exposure to all accounting, tax, and treasury functions as well as substantial experience in IFRS financial reporting, is essential. The Financial Controller must demonstrate strategic leadership capability and consistently meet strict deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
