Overview

DevCo is seeking a Corporate Controller to join our team in the Bellevue, WA area. The Corporate Controller leads Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations, including Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, Audit and Treasury, and will assist the CAO in managing Property Accounting, Development and Construction Accounting. This position is responsible for accurate and timely monthly financial statements and for adequate internal controls to be in place, executed properly, and improved as deficiencies are identified.

Pay Details: $185,000 - $215,000 annually.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounts Payable
    • Manage the AP team and oversee the full-cycle Accounts Payable process, including vendor onboarding, invoice approval workflows, and timely payment processing.
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies, contract and purchase order terms, and jurisdictional tax requirements.
    • Partner with Property Management to streamline vendor payment processes.
    • Monitor AP aging reports and manage payment schedules to optimize cash flow and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Treasury & Cash Management
    • Oversee Treasury Specialist in daily cash management and liquidity planning across all operating and ownership entities.
    • Monitor reserve requirements and balances, cash calls, and funding for development, acquisitions, and other transactions.
    • Recommend cash optimization and investment strategies.
    • Manage relationships with banks, lenders, and financial institutions.
  • Property Management
    • Coordinate with Chief Accounting Officer to supervise accounting functions related to property management and ensure timely reporting.
    • Coordinate with VPs of Property Management and Portfolio Managers to review financial performance and support operational decision-making.
    • Monitor property-level cash flow and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Corporate Accounting
    • Maintain the general ledger for the parent company and holding entities.
    • Prepare pro forma consolidated financials across business units (Development, Construction, Property Management).
    • Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Coordinate with FP&A Analyst in annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting.
    • Lead adherence to corporate-level accounting policies and internal controls.
    • Implement, modify, and supervise internal controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and proper safeguarding of company assets.
    • Drive productivity improvements and develop accounting and shared service personnel.
    • Provide management with analyzed financial reports, trends, and strategic recommendations.
    • Provide leadership on policy development and implementation within the accounting department.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proficient in Development Accounting and Construction Accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, construction job costing, WIP reporting, and multi-state tax filings.
  • Hands-on experience in AP, AR, billing, and draws.
  • CPA or Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • 8-10 years accounting/finance experience including managing a team.
  • Knowledge of LIHTC preferred.
  • Commercial Real Estate industry experience highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting project managers and executives with financial planning and insights.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Deadline- and detail-oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience using Yardi and other CRE systems (MRI, RealPage, Sage, etc.).
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English sufficiently to carry out duties.
  • Successful background check and drug screen required; must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. per I-9 guidelines.
