Join Our Leadership Team as Finance Director
Under City Manager direction, the Director of Finance performs highly professional accounting work and provides administrative direction involving the planning, coordination and implementation of all fiscal operations of the City's Finance Department. The Director is responsible for the direction, planning and management of the financial operations of the City and advises and makes recommendations to the City on all fiscal policy matters necessary for the financial health of the City. This position is responsible for performing professional work in planning, organizing, staffing, controlling and administering all financial functions including fund accounting, budgeting, utility billing, payroll, reporting, investing, debt management, banking, fixed asset management, purchasing, internal support, external support, treasury management and pension plan management for the City. Must be bondable in an amount established by the City Council with such bond conditioned upon the faithful discharge of the duties of the finance director.

What You'll Do
- Lead and Inspire: Oversee all City financial functions, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, utility billing, investments, and debt management.
- Shape Policy: Prepare and administer the annual budget, ensuring alignment with the City's growth and strategic priorities.
- Safeguard Resources: Maintain robust internal controls and oversee the responsible disbursement of City funds.
- Champion Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, as well as GASB standards and municipal best practices.
- Drive Results: Prepare and present financial reports that support informed decision-making by the City Commission and City Manager.
- Foster Accountability: Lead the annual audit process and implement recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Be a Trusted Advisor: Provide strategic guidance on fiscal matters to executive leadership and elected officials.
- Build a High-Performing Team: Supervise and mentor Finance Department staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) required.
- Four (4) or more years of progressive municipal/government finance experience, including team leadership.
- Deep knowledge of the State of Florida Uniform Accounting Codes, GASB standards, and municipal budgeting.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A) is preferred or a Certified Government Finance Officer (CFGO).
- Experience with enterprise funds and utility accounting.
