The Therapy Systems and Preclinical Team is growing and has an exciting opportunity for a R&D Manager role supporting Electrophysiology within the Cardiology division. Electrophysiology is an exciting growth driver for BSC. With the acquisition of FARAPULSE Inc., Boston Scientific will strengthen its leadership in Personalized EP Solutions, with a strong focus in Atrial Fibrillation. The R&D Manager will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and scientists in the areas of pulsed field ablation therapy development. Your role will work closely with senior technical staff across multiple product development teams to prioritize, plan, and execute scientific experiments using state-of-the-art models and methodologies in order to develop new electrophysiology ablation technologies and provide valid scientific evidence to support the safety and effectiveness of our products. This critical role will lead us to best-in-class pre-market data in support of global regulatory approvals. Pre-market data will be generation will be in concert with the holistic product design in coordination with internal and external partners. The ideal candidate will exhibit a blend of technical knowledge, business acumen, coaching ability, fact-based decision making, project management expertise, and collaborative stakeholder management. Lead, manage, and develop a team of 3-6 engineers and scientists. Support career development of your team with a focus on wellness, meaningful work, and professional development. Provide feedback and mentorship to accelerate talent development while building a framework for elevating the way in which we do NPD. Drive technical aspects of complex scientific evidence generation including requirements, methodology, test, and technical writing in order to create novel technology enhancements to meet customer and market demands in the rapidly growing and evolving electrophysiology marketplace Leads project team to analyze, summarize, and compellingly present data for both internal stakeholders and external regulatory submissions, understanding how an individual test complements the overall data package. Ensure customer centric foundation for medical device evidence generation. Support product commercialization and indication expansion initiatives in partnership with the broader cross-functional team. Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives. Manage change effectively. Required Qualifications:
BS or MS degree in Biomedical Engineering, with min 5 years of medical device therapy support experience. Demonstrated product development experience in cardiac electrophysiology and ablation Proven track record of disposable product support through preclinical model development and execution through launch in a regulated environment. Demonstrated technical and project leadership capabilities with track record of performance to key business objectives Demonstrated strong cross-functional collaboration, influence without authority, and project management enabling highly effective project teams. Passion for understanding and solving problems for end users. Outstanding written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in Biomedical Engineering Knowledge of Pulsed Field Ablation Experience working with key opinion leaders to guide and validate strategic product decisions Proven success in working directly with global regulatory agencies in support of investigational device exemption or product approvals Capability to summarize and communicate results to technical community through standard reports/ documentation Proven self-starter who runs towards critical issues, ambiguous requirements, or loosely defined challenges with a demonstrated ability to rally teams to achieve business results. Ability to travel domestically and globally
