Data Center Technician - Level 2
Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to support the deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning of IT hardware in a fast-paced data center environment. This role involves hands-on technical work, adherence to safety and operational protocols, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless infrastructure performance. Responsibilities
Execute hardware installations, startups, and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) following detailed instructions, checklists, and standard operating procedures. Perform post-installation quality checks, ensuring proper grounding, labeling, cabling, and staging in compliance with safety and deployment standards. Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware issues, identify root causes, and replace faulty components efficiently. Support routine hardware refreshes and upgrades (e.g., memory, OS rebuilds) with minimal supervision. Decommission outdated or non-functional equipment in accordance with established protocols. Monitor systems for performance issues or failures and respond to alerts or error messages. Assist in testing and debugging new programs in collaboration with programmers and analysts. Maintain accurate documentation and escalate incidents to Data Center Technician Leads as needed. Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. 1+ years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology. Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word). Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays. Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 2-4 years of hands-on experience in a data center environment (break/fix, deployments, decommissions). Industry certifications such as A+, Network+, or CCNA. Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Top Skills

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
