Senior Rail Operations Project Manager - HDR HDR is seeking a Senior Railroad Operations Project Manager with experience in freight and passenger rail planning and operations. This role involves developing operating plans, delivering planning documents and presentations, mentoring RTC modelers, and acting as a primary client contact to ensure HDR remains a trusted advisor. Responsibilities

Develop operating plans for freight and passenger rail projects Create and deliver planning documents, reports, and presentations describing new or changed rail operations Advise and mentor Rail Traffic Controller (RTC) modelers; support development of RTC model inputs and analyze model outputs Provide rail operations expertise to internal HDR teams (engineers, economists, planners, environmental scientists) Serve as primary client contact and maintain HDRs reputation as an expert, trusted advisor Maintain and develop relationships with freight railroad officials and public agency officials Participate in industry associations and events Lead proposal development efforts Demonstrate ownership and responsibility for delivering quality products within scope, schedule, and budget Qualifications

Verifiable experience in freight rail planning; knowledge of national freight rail traffic patterns, main line, yard, and branch line practices; regulatory requirements related to rail operations; and market strategies of the railroad industry Ability to seek out and develop opportunities for HDR market growth; strong oral and written communication skills Broad knowledge of U.S. and Canadian freight railroad operations, regulations, networks, markets, infrastructure, and rail network strategic planning Experience in railroad operations or operations planning with a Class I or II railroad (e.g., Trainmaster, Train Dispatcher, Manager of Train Operations, Service Designer) 15+ years in the railroad industry Knowledge of intercity and commuter passenger rail operations and interactions on shared corridors Experience documenting projects for freight-railroad and public funding initiatives, including grants, operating plans, economic models, and project financial plans Bachelors degree in engineering, communications, economics, or social science (preferred) RTC model knowledge: ability to work with RTC modelers to develop inputs, methodology, and present results Travel up to 50% Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field 10 years related experience Minimum of 5 years project management experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills Active participation in HDRs employee-owned culture Locations
