Overview
Admissions Officer - Strategic Enrollment Management at Cal Poly. Under general supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Admissions Officer works with other university departments to present Cal Polys academic programs, philosophy, admission practices and procedures to prospective students and families, secondary and post-secondary personnel, community organizations, and the public. As part of the full cycle of recruitment and admission, the officer admits freshmen, transfers, and graduate students, identifies program-specific requirements, and advises students on pathways to meet major and General Education degree requirements to ensure a timely and positive admissions process. The officer also assists in developing statistical reports using institutional, state, national, and third-party data to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities
Present Cal Polys academic programs, philosophy, and admission practices to prospective students, families, and partners. Manage the full cycle of recruitment and admission for freshmen, transfer, and graduate applicants. Identify major-specific requirements and advise students on pathways to meet major and GE degree requirements. Develop and analyze statistical reports using institutional, state, national, and third-party data to improve recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency. Qualifications
General knowledge of research and interview techniques, and of the principles of individual and group behavior. Ability to obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews. Ability to advise students individually and in groups. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions with implications for other programs or service areas. Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn admission practices, Cal Polys catalog, CAM, and related publications. Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a related field; two years of professional experience in student services or a related field. A masters degree may substitute for one year of experience. Additional specialized experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis. Salary and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Range: $60,996 - $66,612 per year. Classification Range: $60,996 - $86,736 per year.
