Legal provides strategic, proactive, practical and cost-effective legal advice and services to protect the organization’s assets, operations and image. This function counsels on commercial, corporate securities, intellectual property, labor and employment, and regulatory law, among other areas. It also litigates company legal matters, manages outside counsel and coordinates legal operations. Legal Management provides strategic oversight, leadership and direction within the Legal function. Job Summary Cardinal Health is seeking a driven and skilled attorney with expertise in healthcare regulatory compliance, including third party billing and reimbursement. The Assistant General Counsel – At-Home Solutions will provide exceptional legal advice and guidance to Cardinal Health’s At-Home Solutions (AHS) business clients, a leading home healthcare medical supplies provider serving people with chronic and serious health conditions in the United States. The AHS business unit comprises four complementary business units: (1) Edgepark Medical Supplies, a leading mail order supply company serving patients with chronic conditions; (2) Advanced Diabetes Supply Group, a leading mail order supply company focused on diabetic patients; (3) Cardinal Health at-Home, a direct-to-home medical supplies distributor; and (4) Velocare, a supply chain network and last-mile fulfillment solution for hospital-level care at home. Candidates should be adaptable, team-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced setting with oversight from the Vice President, Legal. This role will work closely with cross-functional colleagues across the AHS order entry and revenue cycle management team, Compliance, the Enterprise Privacy Office, and other internal teams to identify and address potential issues and risks and help Cardinal Health comply with evolving laws and regulations applicable to the AHS business. Responsibilities

Provide legal guidance on various healthcare laws, regulations, and subregulatory guidance, including, but not limited to, laws relating to third party payor billing and reimbursement, as well as laws applicable to durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, supplies (DMEPOS), and pharmacies. Advise on payor agreements and offer legal advice on business payor relations, contracting strategies and payor/reimbursement disputes to mitigate legal risks. Maintain familiarity with laws affecting client areas to issue spot and provide basic counseling, including those relevant to sales and marketing of products to patients and prescribers and by federal and state government programs (e.g., fraud and abuse statutes, FDA regulation, privacy/HIPAA). Draft, negotiate and review a wide range of agreements, including complex matters involving manufacturer supply agreements and co-marketing arrangements. Advise and ensure internal clients receive sound, practical and timely legal advice on a wide variety of legal matters related to operating a commercial business that markets to healthcare professionals. Assist in creating new template agreements, playbooks and training to support efficient contracting processes for various business functions. Develop and conduct legal training for business clients. Proactively stay up-to-date on healthcare regulatory matters affecting the business, including current regulations, cases, trends and best practices. Qualifications

J.D. required; high academic achievement in undergraduate and law school preferred Active license to practice law in any state required A minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field; experience in a large complex organization or law firm preferred Extensive knowledge of healthcare law and regulation, particularly billing and reimbursement Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills Solution- and results-oriented with the ability to prioritize and deliver key initiatives Ability to assess legal, practical and business risks quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment, and to make sound judgments under tight deadlines Ability to provide practical and creative solutions and concise, business-focused legal advice Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills Entrepreneurial, self-starter qualities enabling management of responsibilities with urgency and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment What is expected of you and others at this level

Anticipated salary range:
