Legal Counsel (New York, NY):
Our client, a leading global alternative asset manager with more than $20B in AUM, is seeking an experienced attorney to join its in-house legal team. This high-impact role offers a unique opportunity for a fund formation lawyer to partner closely with the General Counsel on matters involving private fund structuring and product development. The attorney will act as the primary liaison for outside counsel and collaborate extensively with internal teams, playing a central role in shaping and overseeing fund launches across a wide range of credit vehicles.

Manage the formation, launch, and maintenance of onshore and offshore private funds, including private equity-style vehicles, credit funds, CLOs/CDOs, co-investment funds, and continuation funds Draft and negotiate offering memoranda, constituent documents, side letters, term sheets, and service provider agreements Serve as the key coordinator with outside counsel and partner with internal teams across investor relations, operations, tax, and finance Review and provide input on marketing materials, investor communications, DDQs, and RFPs Advise on credit facilities and related documentation for fund vehicles Support regulatory and compliance matters, including interpretation of the Advisers Act and, where applicable, the Investment Company Act Contribute to firmwide legal initiatives and governance projects as needed Qualifications
5–8 years of relevant legal experience Strong preference for candidates with early-career training at a top-tier law firm Prior in-house experience at a registered investment adviser is highly desirable Proven expertise in private fund formation required; familiarity with CLOs strongly preferred Experience with registered fund products (interval funds, BDCs) considered a plus Demonstrated ability to manage outside counsel and collaborate effectively across internal teams Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at balancing multiple priorities independently Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with direct exposure to senior leadership Location Manhattan, NY Job Details
