Overview
Position: Network Engineer Location: Houston, TX (Onsite-3 days/Week) Duration: Full-time Years of experience: 10+ Mandatory Skills: Netwrk, SD WAN, FortiGate, Cisco Routing, Switching Responsibilities Deployment and operations of the network hardware in the IT infrastructure, including new implementations, expansion, and support of NX-OS/NX-OS (N2K, N3K, N5K, N7K, N9K), Cisco Catalyst 3850, 9500, and 9300 switches and routers, Load Balancers, and Firewalls in Data Centers. Work on routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, IS-IS) and switching protocols (STP, RSTP) as part of implementations and operations. Engage in on-call rotation with priorities 1 and 2 cases in real time to provide immediate solutions impacting live production. Deploy ASA Firewalls dedicated to ACI infrastructure across multiple data center locations. Experience with load balancing strategies, application switching, traffic management, persistence, and SSL certificates. Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement long-term fixes; discuss solutions with the team. Perform code upgrades to network switches and routers in Cisco infrastructure to address vulnerabilities and maintain standards. Configure and document new ACI Fabrics in Cisco infrastructure (APIC, Spine-Leaf architecture). Strong experience in medium-to-large size enterprise networks (5+ years). Network and security knowledge on Cisco products, including routing, switching, and firewalls. Strong network troubleshooting skills from layer 1 to 7. Experience with enterprise-grade load balancers (e.g., F5) and Cisco Access Points. Experience with monitoring tools (SolarWinds Orion, NCM, NPM, Aruba). Experience with ACI; F5 Load Balancer experience is a must. Should have worked on DC network documentation and related processes. Experience handling data center network incidents within defined SLAs. Working knowledge and experience defining and engineering VoIP/SIP and/or IMS-based services. Installation, configuration, and strong troubleshooting experience in Cisco devices; experience in Voice WAN/Wireless Site Networks; Datacenter support. Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations. Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues within SLA.
Qualifications
Experience in Cisco Routers/Switches and Cisco Wireless (WIFI). F5 Load Balancer experience; Palo Alto/Cisco ASA Firewalls. WAN optimization technologies. Voice over IP (VoIP) / Cisco VOIP experience. Certifications: CCNA, CCNP preferred. Automation experience using Ansible and Python is a plus.
