Job Description
Exercise some judgment to comply with instructions and established procedures in the receipt, storage, and shipping of food, equipment, cleaning supplies, and other materials.
Education and Experience
High school education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SU experience is preferred. If unavailable, at least one year of experience in shipping/receiving, or storeroom work.
Two years of general food service experience may be substituted for one year of shipping/receiving or storeroom experience.
Valid driver's license; ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
Skills and Knowledge

Responsibilities
Receive a wide variety of freight.
Use computerized system to count and identify items, matching purchase orders with shipping/receiving documents.
Use computerized system to store materials in designated areas including walk-in freezers and coolers.
Rotate stock to comply with first in first out policy.
Pick orders from computer generated transfers.
Assist in the computerized control of inventory as required.
May drive truck to deliver food and supplies to campus. Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks.
Maintain work areas in safe, sanitary and efficient operating conditions. Observe safety regulations and maintain highest standards of sanitation.
Physical Requirements •Standing 85% - 100% of the shift •Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend to below the knee •Frequent stooping and/or crouching •Frequent walking back and forth between loading dock, stock room, freezers, and kitchen areas •Frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso •Full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, and bending of arm and shoulder, reaching overhead •Frequently lift items that weigh up to 100 lbs; ability to lift from overhead items weighing up to 100 pounds; load and unload items weighing up to 100 lbs •Able to push and pull carts/pallets carrying up to 500 lbs •Wrist and finger dexterity (i.e. ability to use box cutters, scissors, pens; fine motor and tactile skills, including typing or touch screen data entry on computer, calculator, etc.) •May work in conditions of elevated heat and cold, including outside •Periodically work on ladders or at other elevated heights
Tools/Equipment
Operate a variety of equipment including hand truck, cart, manual and mechanical lift trucks, delivery vehicle, etc., hand held calculator.
