Purpose of Position Under the direction of the Court Support Services Director, this position is primarily responsible in magistrate courtrooms for operating recording equipment during court hearings and managing courtroom activities. Additionally, this position is responsible for providing court support to various areas as assigned, including but not limited to, duty magistrate, judges, and civil stalking liaison support.
Essential Job Functions & Competencies
Foster an inclusive and culturally competent work environment Promote and adhere to court policies and procedures Contribute to a strong, supportive, and productive team environment Primary responsibility is assignment to magistrate courtrooms Serve as primary back up for assigned areas when available; including but not limited to, duty magistrate, judges, and civil stalking liaison support Operate recording equipment during court proceedings Schedule and conduct video conferences Create and process documents and schedule hearings through appropriate systems (case management system, e-Filing, and Court Forms) Assist with arrangement and operation of electronic equipment used during proceedings Retrieve, edit, and produce audio video recordings as requested Create, utilize, and maintain electronic recording log which documents pertinent information and events that occur during courtroom proceedings Create, prepare, and copy various documents (legal, forms, correspondence, financial) Perform basic clerical tasks and other duties Account for, label, electronically log, maintain, record, and transfer all exhibits and evidence introduced in a proceeding Prepare boxes and labels for exhibit storage Request interpreters for various proceedings Courtroom Support
Ensure the presence of all necessary participants by coordinating courtroom activities Coordinate hearing dates for magistrates and judges Maintain schedules and calendars for judges and magistrates when assigned Assist in managing the assigned area's weekly docket; prepare case file and documents, prepare courtroom for scheduled proceedings Serve as a liaison for the judge or magistrate to coordinate/facilitate the court's business Maintain docket statistics Make copies, gather exhibits and evidence to be presented to jury for deliberation Assist in trial procedures for magistrates and judges, including providing directions to attorneys, litigants, and jurors, distributing jury questionnaires and preparing jury seating charts Explain procedures to pro se litigants regarding judgment debtor examinations, excess funds and garnishment hearings General
Maintain effective lines of communication with court personnel and stakeholders Greet and provide information and directions to attorneys, the public, case participants, and visitors Open and distribute mail prepare mail for delivery, and fax correspondence Answer, assist, and direct telephone calls appropriately Maintain a professional demeanor during stressful situations Respond courteously to inquiries Maintain professional attire Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending professional training and conferences Adhere to assigned work schedule while exhibiting regular and predictable attendance Maintain confidentiality of appropriate information Perform other duties as required The listed duties are normal for this position.
