We are seeking a highly motivated
Data Manager V
to support ongoing projects within public health for our federal customer. This position will involve supporting various laboratory projects, including the development of new vaccines, the study of infectious diseases, molecular epidemiology, and surveillance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with various agencies and contribute to necessary research, making a difference in the fight against disease. This is a fully onsite position at our customer's location in Atlanta, Georgia. This position is contingent on contract award. Responsibilities
Provide data management and data quality support for next-generation sequencing data (NGS) and paired laboratory and/or epidemiological metadata. Administer and organize laboratory data by using relevant database packages and other data management software/systems (e.g., R, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Power Platform, Excel, SAS). Perform data quality assurance activities, including identifying and resolving inconsistencies in data flow, data outside legitimate ranges, and illogical data responses by developing data quality reports and investigating and resolving data anomalies or errors using SAS, R, MS Access, Excel, and other warranted software. Create visualizations for NGS data and quality monitoring using Power BI, R, and other data visualization tools. Manage, manipulate, and transform data stored in various file formats (e.g., SAS datasets, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, SQL, BSON/JSON, ASCII). Maintain and support data management lifecycle activities: coordinate data entry processes, create data entry forms in software packages (Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Access), and perform data entry. Support tracking of problem resolutions related to data quality assurance by maintaining data-correction logbooks and files to improve data collection and acquisition processes. Create and modify scripts for data management (e.g., Python, R, Bash, SAS) and document their functions, processes, and outputs. Support design, development, and implementation of tools to manage NGS data, track sequence submissions to public databases (e.g., NCBI), and integrate epidemiologic data. Support NGS and lab data analyses, including: integration of information for NGS runs, analyses for molecular epidemiological studies (SAS or R), developing analytical data files for COR and program designee, ensuring security and documentation of analytical data files, and applying statistical techniques (e.g., linear/logistic regression, generalized linear models, survival analysis). Guide researchers in determining appropriate statistical techniques and support analytical program development in SAS or R. Provide support with study design and analysis using NGS methods, including selecting appropriate statistical methods and determining sample size. Provide support with database development and analysis of data related to branch outbreak responses. Communicate analytic results to internal staff and external partners clearly, concisely, and timely. Provide support in preparing data and PowerPoint slides for visual presentation. Support pertinent quality-related duties, including drafting and revision of SOPs, and verifications/validations for NGS methods and analysis pipelines. Develop and/or use innovative methodologies; search, synthesize, and interpret information relevant to public health. Review and analyze studies/projects assessing major and/or sensitive public health issues to make recommendations for processes, procedures, and/or policies related to public health programs, practices, and research. Support gathering information for strategic direction to fulfill federal customers mission goals and objectives. Requirements
Required Experience and Skills
58 years of experience in data management, data integration, and visualizations. Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. Proficiency in SQL or Python, and data visualization software including Microsoft Power BI. Experience with SAS and R. Experience managing, manipulating, and transforming data in formats such as SAS datasets, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, SQL, BSON/JSON, and ASCII. Experience creating scripts and extracting data (e.g., Python, R, Bash, SAS). Proven track record in data quality assurance, including anomaly detection and resolution. Experience performing molecular epidemiological analysis, studies, and outbreak response data analysis. Ability to perform statistical modeling and analysis (linear regression, logistic regression, generalized linear models, survival analysis). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of public health principles and ability to synthesize information for strategic planning. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working for the federal government or in a public health setting is preferred. Ability to obtain government clearance and be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship (now or in the future). Education and Training
PhD in a healthcare-related field, computer science, statistics, bioinformatics, or computational biology with 5+ years of relevant experience; or MS in one of these fields with 8+ years of experience in data management, data integration, and visualizations. Physical Requirements
