Overview The Senior Director of Philanthropy plans, directs, and manages all philanthropy functions for the Hospital/Clinic, serving as the lead philanthropy officer for the location. The Senior Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating all programs and strategies designed to enhance charitable giving to provide additional support to Shriners Children’s, including following and fulfilling objectives and goals developed by the Executive Director of Location Philanthropy in conjunction with the Chief Philanthropy Officer and location leadership. The Senior Director identifies and cultivates prospective donors in the local community, nurtures donor relationships through regular contact, communication, and recognition, and develops and maintains relationships with hospital-affiliated Shrine Temples and the local community for fundraising. The Senior Director will also direct, mentor, train, and support a hospital/clinic-based philanthropy staff. The position requires willingness to travel as needed and occasional evening and weekend work when necessary. Responsibilities

Major Gifts Fundraising

— Develops, builds, and maintains a comprehensive, hospital/clinic-based philanthropy program focused on major gifts, planned gifts, annual giving, and corporate and foundation giving. Responsible for developing and implementing long and short-range operational plans to strengthen and grow major gifts and planned giving programs. Possesses knowledge of planned gifts (e.g., CGAs, bequests, real property). Grows understanding of gift agreements, endowment giving, capital projects, and other major gift processes. Demonstrates a track record for closing major gifts at six and seven figures and higher. Reviews donor stratification reports to focus on top-tier donors and increase retention. Identifies, cultivates, and steward prospect relationships through personal visits and communication to obtain gifts for Shriners Children’s. Prospect Engagement & Stewardship through Centralized Services

— Determines collaborative third-party fundraising approaches, leverages digital platforms (e.g., Classy) to engage more donors, and maintains a knowledge base on donation tools. Collaborates with corporate and foundation teams to create engagement strategies for key employers/foundations and supports initiatives that grow visibility and funds. Builds connections with chambers of commerce, leadership groups, and foundation networks to enhance community support. Ensures accurate and timely donor records in SHC’s central donor database. Develops solicitation priorities and donor/prospect visitation schedules for top staff and volunteers. Strategic Planning

— Works with leadership to respond to strategic priorities by meeting annual donor activity and philanthropic revenue goals. Creates location-specific annual plans with fundraising goals and activity metrics. Staffing & Administration

— Directs development of personnel, onboarding, and evaluation of team members. Manages budget requests, expenditures, and variances. Builds relationships with Shriner Temples and the local community to raise philanthropic support. Establishes communication systems and promotes positive relationships with the Board of Governors, Shrine Centers, and affiliated groups. Required

7 years of fundraising experience 5 years of major giving and planned giving program experience Demonstrable track record of fundraising accomplishments, including building a major gifts program into a core component of philanthropy Experience closing major and planned gifts from individuals; working knowledge of planned giving vehicles and Charitable Gift Annuities Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

Healthcare fundraising and supervisory experience Experience with Blackbaud or other CRM system Seniority level
