This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) position. Reporting to and receiving work lead direction from the Lurie College of Education Student Success Center Managing Director and work coordination from the Assistant Director, the Administrative Assistant provides general office support functions to the LCOE Student Success Center. Working independently, under general supervision, the Administrative Assistant performs routine clerical and administrative duties in support of the daily operation of the Center, including the coordination of front desk tasks and procedures. Responsibilities
Provides a range of ongoing clerical support functions to the Director, Assistant Director, staff, and students; runs errands Sorts and distributes mail, faxes, messages, and other communications Provides support for Student Success Center events Processes purchase requisitions; maintains and orders office supplies Assists with maintaining the Centers website, including content and links Maintains list of staff office hours; maintains the Directors, Assistant Directors, and Academic Advisors advising schedules. May administer online scheduling Files documents and records, especially those related to student advising and the general function of the Success Center; photocopies and prepares documents for distribution Assists with special events, receptions, and Success Center activities Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports Working knowledge of software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, database management, HTML formatting, desktop publishing, and graphics; Internet and e-mail Ability to identify and solve standard problems and refer more complex problems to appropriate staff Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with employees and external agencies Strong oral communication skills to effectively communicate standard information Must possess excellent customer service and public relations skills Ability to work effectively with culturally and ethnically diverse populations as well as low-income and first-generation students Required Qualifications
Completion of a high school program or its equivalent Six months of experience in an office environment Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree from a community college or its equivalent Compensation
