AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, including data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to cloud services. We seek talented people to help address complex, global-scale challenges in data center design, construction, and equipment qualification. In this role, you will serve as a Data Center Design Manager, influencing all aspects of data center design, construction, and equipment qualification. You will work with internal and external teams to define, design, and implement complex infrastructure projects that power AWSs global presence. You will ensure facilities meet high standards of quality, reliability, and efficiency while driving innovation in design and construction processes. Responsibilities
Lead multidisciplinary project teams to deliver data center designs within schedule and cost constraints Oversee the complete equipment qualification process, ensuring alignment across teams and adherence to technical, operational, safety, quality, reliability, and business requirements on a global scale Develop and sustain scalable mechanisms to integrate diverse teams and ensure all power and cooling equipment undergoes required qualification tests Collaborate with architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines, as well as material suppliers, to deliver high-quality designs that support favorable business outcomes Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, operations teams, and external consultants Drive innovation in design and construction processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency Create and maintain global best practice documentation Oversee project metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction reviews, and interfacing with design consultants (anticipated travel not to exceed 25%); international travel may be needed About The Team
The Data Center Design Engineering team at Amazon Web Services consists of Architects, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Fire Protection and Controls Engineers working to design the next generation of Data Centers. The team aims for world-class uptime and safety, efficiency, and security in AWS facilities. You will be part of a global team transforming how cloud infrastructure is designed and delivered. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 6+ years of design experience in commercial / industrial / other complex technical projects 5+ years of mission-critical facility design or technical program management experience 3+ years of project management experience, including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management Preferred Qualifications
