Overview
EPC Project Manager, Utility Scale Solar (Texas) at SOLV Energy. This role is based onsite in Texas or the South Central Region and involves managing all aspects of utility-scale solar projects, including planning, budgeting, buyout, project controls and reporting, scheduling, risk management, and leadership support for project success. Responsibilities
Plan, execute, and manage large self-performed scopes with very large labor crews; plan sequencing, crew sizes, productivity goals, and monthly labor spend; monitor actual results and adjust forecasts Work with the Superintendent to develop safety plans and implement safety procedures Oversee preparation of project billings to maximize cash flow and shorten pay cycles; monitor aged receivables in Owner meetings Present and negotiate change orders with owners for timely resolution Negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases Set up and implement job procedures to ensure timely buyout, shop drawing approval, and material delivery Keep the project on schedule; ensure timely reporting to management on cost forecasting and estimated cost at completion Manage, train, and supervise project team; mentor junior employees for professional growth Review contract conditions to ensure compliance and document significant project events (accidents, delays, change orders) Direct preconstruction activities; prepare and issue subcontract bid packages Manage project risk and develop mitigation plans with the project team and SOLV operations management Maintain Site-Specific Quality Management Plan (SSQMP) and enforce quality control Avoid or mitigate claims and conflicts; complete all job close-out procedures Conduct warranty follow-up (typical 2-year warranty period) Develop and maintain good relationships with Owner, Architect, and Subcontractors; coordinate with local contractors to ensure manpower and competitive terms Coordinate with material suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and address logistics challenges; lead regular meetings with Owner and key project partners Minimum Skills or Experience
Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural Bachelors degree preferred Field construction management experience (58 years), including supervisory responsibilities Strong leadership with ability to coordinate a diverse, remote project team Proficient in MS Office and industry tools (e.g., Bluebeam Revu); CMiC experience a plus Basic contract law and project accounting knowledge; understanding of project management controls (scheduling, cost control, procurement, estimating) Strong understanding of utility-scale PV plant construction methods, sequencing, and ISO interconnection processes Ability to travel extensively (minimum 50%), including remote jobsite assignments Excellent organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented, motivated self-starter Performance Metrics
