School Bus Driver - No Exp Needed - Training Provided
Join to apply for the School Bus Driver role at Durham School Services. We are hiring drivers to safely transport students to and from school, ensuring they arrive on time and ready to learn. Safety is the cornerstone of our operations, and we provide comprehensive training to help you obtain a commercial drivers license (CDL) and related endorsements where available. We offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage, and employees may enroll in a retirement savings plan. All interested applicants for a Driver position begin as a Driver in Training. The program trains staff to obtain the CDL and learn Company policies and procedures. Upon successful completion, the Driver in Training will be placed in a Professional Driver role. Responsibilities Include
Provides safe and reliable transportation by operating a school bus or other vehicle on a fixed or changing route. Exhibits high ethical standards and integrity; reports concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisor. Punctual and safe operation of route; maintains timely service. Assists passengers in evacuation if needed and reports accidents or incidents per Company policy. Follows Company policy on student and passenger management; communicates problems to appropriate personnel. Presents a neat and professional appearance; completes required paperwork (route change sheets, time cards, vehicle repair requests) promptly. Maintains a cooperative attitude with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and passengers; promotes company goodwill. Safely uses vehicle equipment, including wheelchair lifts, radios, and emergency equipment. Other duties as assigned. Additional responsibilities for Paratransit Drivers may apply per location. Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age; for Tennessee School Bus Drivers, at least 25 years of age per state law. Must possess or be able to obtain all valid applicable state licenses and certifications to operate company vehicles. Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening; safety-sensitive position with random screening per policy. Must satisfactorily complete and pass all training. Must practice defensive driving at all times and maintain safe driving and work habits. Compliance with all applicable federal, state, county, district, and contract Driver requirements.
