Customer Digital Technology team is tasked to deliver on key strategic objectives at United Rentals. This role will be critical in ensuring different software systems integrate and scale well to render industry leading user experiences. You will contribute at different phases of software development, work with world class vendors, software providers and cater to internal stakeholders at various levels of the organization. This is an amazing opportunity for someone who is driven to work on software projects that have tangible impact in the real world.

This role would be in one of our corporate offices in: Stamford, CT; Kansas City, MO; or Scottsdale, AZ as a hybrid role

What You’ll Do

Act as the primary technical point of contact for a broad range of software enhancements

Help build a thorough end-to-end understanding of technical interfaces for the company website and the mobile app with an emphasis on ecommerce

Clarify business requirements and translate technical specifications for development

Ensure scalability and performance of digital technology platforms

Assist in all phases of development and deployment of system enhancements

Work closely with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with strategic objectives

Perform root cause analysis across system call chains for issues reported

Conduct technical assessments and provide recommendations for system improvements

Test new or modified application functionality, verifying business and technical requirements

Follow testing processes to ensure solution delivery matches desired functionality

Perform tests to avoid performance issues, including any effects from system development

Create and maintain technical documentation including: support knowledge base, data sources, data flows, application logic, enhancement/issue logs, hardware/software architecture, and other project documents

Stay informed on industry trends and perform best-practice research to support project goals

Responsible for other tasks related to assigned systems

Requirements

3+ years in programmer analyst or systems analyst role

Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Science or Business or Equivalent Experience

Effective verbal and written communication with vendors, customers, team members and management

Ability to balance self-motivated, independent work ethic with cross-functional collaboration

Experience with database systems and SQL programming (SQL Server, DB2)

Hands-on software troubleshooting experience and analytical thinking

Knowledge of data modeling and ETL concepts

Good project management and documentation abilities

Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Hybrid work schedule: M, F remote; Tue, Wed, Thu in office
