Department: IT | Custom Development Summary of Job Duties: Systems Developer sought by University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR (Pulaski County). Responsibilities (Duties)

Develop and modify procedures and software to solve complex healthcare business, patient care, healthcare regulatory, and medical research problems using state of the art and legacy software development tools and methods, considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, computer-user interfaces and form of desired results. Analyze, design, and develop custom healthcare software applications. Determine system requirements with users. Investigate existing systems and gather data by interviews. Perform project tasks such as software development, software implementation, application maintenance, application troubleshooting, software upgrades, software testing, and custom report writing, in individual and team member roles. Identify and relate information flow including manual tasks and governing policies to determine inputs, processes, and outputs. Define input and output data requirements, specify systems data profiles and master files, and establish controls such as data and processing edits, calculations, statutory restraints on systems design, and regulatory requirements. Test, implement, and support custom and vendor business and healthcare software applications. Create required test files, analyze test results, and debug software operations. Perform application implementations by coordinating with various areas of the IT department as well as the user community. Troubleshoot application issues and provide help desk support to users of these systems. Meet with users periodically to explain systems. Modify system designs to meet user needs. Qualifications

Requirements : Bachelors degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field plus two (2) years of computer programming, software development, or related experience: designing and modifying computer systems for system process activities; analyzing structure requirements, such as data manipulation, program logic, hardware and software requirements; developing, maintaining, and monitoring data processing needs; analyzing business requirements and comprehends business definitions of data; compiling, identifying, and determining job specifications needed to develop new processes; designing procedures, such as systems input, output, file structure, and job flow requirements; analyzing and diagnosing to isolate the source of network, hardware, and software malfunctions; testing the development and implementation of programs; analyzing current user information flow requirements and determining feasibility of design approaches; and modifying design according to user needs.
