Salary, Exempt POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Engineer will lead the implementation, monitoring, and support of secure, high-performance networks across our onshore offices and offshore assets. This role ensures reliable connectivity for critical business and field applications including Voice over IP (VoIP), video conferencing, and secure remote access. You will work closely with field IT, cybersecurity, and application teams to deliver optimized network configurations that meet evolving business demands and support compliance with SOX and NIST standards. Responsibilities Network Design & Implementation Design and implement LAN/WAN systems for enterprise and offshore connectivity. Configure secure VPNs, VLANs, SD-WAN, and QoS policies tailored to remote platform needs. Collaborate on architectural decisions and document network standards.
Operations & Support
Maintain network infrastructure to ensure 24/7 uptime across locations, including Starlink and Ubiquiti-based offshore links. Troubleshoot Layer 13 issues across complex physical and virtual environments. Provide rapid incident response to connectivity or performance disruptions.
Project Management
Lead or contribute to projects involving platform deployment, network upgrades, and cyber-hardening. Partner with internal teams to align infrastructure with operational requirements.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain network documentation including diagrams, standards, and runbooks. Support audits and ensure compliance with SOX, NIST, and IT security standards. Maintain and test network business continuity and disaster recovery plans for critical infrastructure. Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to enforce network security policies and incident response procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Work Requirements
Proven success in designing and deploying scalable network architectures. CCNP, JNCIP, Network+ or other relevant networking certifications. Strong proficiency in TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and network segmentation. Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages). Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, PRTG, SolarWinds). Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Professional work habits, strong work ethic, ability to learn and teach new technologies, and adherence to company policies and standard business etiquette. Experience with cloud networking (Azure and/or AWS). Demonstrated proficiency with common business software applications. Solid understanding of Layer 2/3 networking and the OSI Model.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, business, or a related field. 10+ years of extensive network engineering experience. 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer in an E&P offshore oil and gas company.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience designing and tuning LAN/WAN environments with a focus on enterprise infrastructure. 10+ years of hands-on administration of routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers. 5+ years of experience with SonicWall, Palo Alto, or similar firewalls.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. Occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
